Ok, this is starting to get on my nerves, it's been happening for about two days now, every other video website works just fine, but YouTube videos are loading slow as hell. And yes, I have Googled this problem, and nothing seems to work.
It maybe because of the traffic on there, but is anybody else experiencing this? There have only been a few videos that load normally for me, while the rest take about 30 minutes to get a few seconds of viewing.
-
Well, I have the problem that some of them say 'error' or something like that, and have to refresh the page. Slow ones I have seen, but not as common as the 'error' ones, and not as slow as your case (have to wait like ten seconds in order to watch two or three seconds at a time).
-
Hmm, well I haven't got any errors. The videos just load, really, really slow, sometimes they don't even load at all.
-
Youtube has been blocked here for a long time.
So I use a webproxy when necessary, but it is faster even than a direct connection(the drawback is javascript doesn't work).
-
And I'm not sure if it'd be my internet connection, because even when my torrents are downloading, I can load videos on other websites normally.
-
What ISP do you use? Have you tried running traceroute and ping on the youtube video servers and statistically comparing them to other video servers?
-
I have Qwest, and no I have not, heh.
-
The same thing has been happening to me for the exact same time period. It's been much less noticeable in the off hours than during peak times. I suspect al Qaeda has developed throttling capabilities.
-
Hmm, do you really live in washington? the same thing is happening to my friend, maybe it's only happening in the northwest? o.O
Anyways, I'll see what happens later in the day when I come back from school.
-
Yep. Seattle.
-
Oookaaay...still the same, but now I'm starting to get the 'error' thing that Acacia Sgt was talking about
-
It depends on the video type. I stick with low quality and it goes at a decent pace for me. AND I also get longer videos too.

In my case it doesn't. It doesn't matter what the video type is, it loads it really really slow, or doesn't load at all. And...it's still doing it today.
-
I've been getting the exact same thing. Starting to annoy the hell out of me.
-
That hasn't happened to me, but sometimes (like, half the time) a video says 'This video has been removed by the user' or 'this video has been taken off Youtube' and I know damn well it hasn't because I just uploaded it, so I have to wait a week or add high quality to it.
Maybe Youtube is starting to Implode upon itself.

I've been around it since about 2 months after it was first made and I can say this.
Problems never happened til GOOGLE took over.
Bastards are responsible for all the problems.
People actually caring about copyright, long loads(I had it for awhile once but it stopped after a week), money grubbing spots all over the place, being recognized as scum, Youtube has gone downhill already. It has been for awhile now.
Google's at fault. Honestly if it were my site and I agreed to the cash thing(1. something billion is a lot), I think I may have been disappointed in myself at this point. Looking at how big it is now, I honestly think in about 20 years or so Youtube COULD have given Google a run for their money as the search thing(it's going from "Google it" to "Youtube it", or at least it was)were it not for the fact they bought it.

People actually caring about copyright,
This isn't actually a problem. You just think it is because it inconveniences you. Unless you're prepared to argue against copyright in principle.
long loads(I had it for awhile once but it stopped after a week),
A consequence of the greater amount of traffic and content. If anyone other than a company of Google's size owned them, it would be even worse. Not to mention, they are now letting you view higher quality videos, which requires more data.
money grubbing spots all over the place,
The ads are a minor inconvenience at worst, and if not by ads, how would you propose that YouTube acquire revenue? Make it pay to use? Somehow I doubt you support that plan.
being recognized as scum, Youtube has gone downhill already. It has been for awhile now.
Then use a different site. YouTube isn't the only video sharing site out there.

For what it's worth, the issue seems to be over for me. YouTube's been behaving itself for over a day, now.
