Hello, I'm Milly. I've been a fan of this website for a while now, but I was just compelled to join the forum this evening when I felt the need to show off my insanely nerdy tattoo. Only reason I'm not posting this in the "Newbies" thing, is because, well, it's less of a "Hello! I'm new." and more of a "Look how freaking nerdy I am for getting a Chrono tattoo."
I really still can't believe I went ahead and did it. :/
:P
-
Believe it or not, you are not the first person who's done this. Welcome aboard!
-
Thank you very much.
-
When I'm 18 I'm getting a Frozen Flame on my right shoulder, or something like that. Welcome tot he party, enjoy yourself here, and bask in the glory of our collective nerdiness.
-
You're officially awesome. Welcome.
-
We have at least two other examples (http://www.chronocompendium.com/Term/Fan_Art.html#Physical_Art) of Chrono-themed tattoos on file, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some.

Frozen flame is a great idea, actually. You should go for that.
-
I'd never go quite this far, though...

Oh, mannn....
-
That's a really nice design. Welcome to the CC!
Also, I'm now considering getting a game related tattoo.
-
I think that tatoos should really mean something to the person getting them.
And you proved it. It's very well done. I've always wanted to get a Chrono themed tatoo.
-
Sexy!
-
If the tattoo wasn't cool I probably would have moved this to the pictures thread...or, wait, was there a tattoo thread too? Whatever, it's cool though...One thing I'll say is this: MIRROR PHOTOS ARE MIRRORED!
-
Nice =) And that tattoo is cool too (;
-
Hey, I had a tattoo thread! We can compare!
Yours is fucking cool, don't let anybody tell you different! Ok, it's kinda dorky. But as long as you're proud of it, it's fucking cool. :D

Heck yes I'm proud of it. :)
It's not a shallow tattoo, I mean, Chrono Trigger is basically how I learned how to read as a kid. That and FF3.
My mom used to read the text to me, like a story. Giving the characters different voices and such. It was a lot of fun.

No kidding? Your mom rocks...
It's nice to think that we're entering an age where most of the grown-ups have played video games.

Yeah, it's werid. My mom was telling me about the good ol' days when Dig Dug was, like, insanely cool graphics to everyone. I thought it was hilarious.
She's been into video games since they came out, basically. Hahaha. Strange to say. I make her sound older than dirt and she's only like 40. Nerd just runs in my veins I guess...

Seconded on the mom being cool.
-
I'll get me a Spekkio tattoo one day :) Or a nice looking Magus one.
-
The motion is passed, we have a gamer MILF on our hands...!...er, don't tell your mom a guy online said something that creepy. Or tell her extra! What do I know?

Trust me, if anyone saw my mom walking on the street they'd be like...
"Her?... Gamer?... REALLY?..."
It's a pretty awesome occasion to have some friends over and have her sitting in the living room chair playing Golden Sun.

That is pretty rare, I do not know any adolescence interested in using video games as medium for education or interested in video games medium. In addition, I known a humble and respectable old man who seen his granddaughter playing Chrono Cross, and fell in love with its music. His playing of the music such as Dimension Break,Another Aruni and Fragment of Dreams can be watched in Youtube under username oldwhtman. He is a cool old man for his age 8)
Anyway, welcome to the Compendium!
I really hope my parent are as cool as yours *sigh*

This is a mere half step away from Trekkies that surgically alter their ears to look Vulcan.
-
How do you tell those apart from Tolkien fans who alter their ears to look like elves?
-
Do I smell a Cease and Desist battle from beyond the grave between Gene Roddenberry and JRR Tolkien?
-
I've been a Tolkien fan for 15 years and I do not think it happens.
-
LaBella!!! I would have your babies if Zephira hadn't already got me pregnant.
Eh, welcome to the place of awesome!
By the way, I'm the guy everyone loves so love me.

I also seriously doubt that Tolkien's Elves have pointed ears. At any rate, there are enough cases where men and others are mistaken for Elves that such a simple physical distinction is unlikely. I believe the likes of Turin, Aragorn, and even Gandalf (hence his name) were at times mistaken for being Elves. Typically, Elves are the more noticable by their eyes.

Oh, wow, is that ZeaLitY's new avatar I see there?
Hell, I'll use that if he doesn't. The dude's old enough to be an FW avatar.

Feel free :-) It's not mine, I just found it.
Pretty sure that's George Clinton from P-Funk. May just be a lookalike though.

Maybe they were wearing hats or had long hair covering their ears.

Nope, they'd still poke out. xD

Hm, well, as far as I know, there is only one slight reference to the potential of pointed ears, that being a reference to them being 'leaf shaped.' However, as I've said, judging by the fact that Gandalf himself was taken to be an Elf, I highly doubt Tolkien's own appraisal of Elves was very much like our post-D&D era perception. They were not ethaereal, nor many of the other traits that are currently attributed to Elves.
The sense one might get of the Elves as opposed to say, men, in Tolkien, is maybe the distinction between Vanir and Aesir in Norse myth. But as it is, it is certain that Tolkien's conception of Elves is rather different than that which we are used to. His arrangement of troops before the siege of Gondolin is interesting in this regard as, indeed, are most of the doings of the Noldor (Gnomes, ie. Deep Elves, like Galadriel and Elrond.)
-
Ah, I totally forgot/didn't realize that Gandalf was interpreted to be an Elf among some Middle-Earth...ers. If so, that's cool. I also figured that Tolkien didn't have such a physical distinction in mind (it wasn't positively described to my knowledge), but I must have grown accustomed to it thanks to the movies.
Man, talking about this almost makes me want to go rip models from Lord of the Rings: The Third Age and other LOTR games and do a fangame to fill in gaps Tolkien left to the reader's imagination, but...I guess this is neither the time nor the place.

It's not like he'll CnD ya!
-
hahaha.
Yeah I noticed too that he only gave subtle differences between men and elves.
Movies, DnD, and other books gave them more.

"We're not called Trekkies, we're Trekers! Trekkies is derogatory!"
Two cookies to whoever gets what thats from (Farely new movie =P)
-
Meh. This thread is going nowhere. Nice introduction, eh LaBella?
-
Indeed. And good catch. I've become so inundated with LotR movie stuff that I'm getting rusty.
Tolkien never describes elves as having pointed ears. In some obscure notes somewhere he makes one very brief comment about their ears being "leaf-like". However it is not considered to be cannon since he never made it part of any formal work.
As far as appearance elves were just really tall, really strong humans who had glowing or "bright" eyes.

So did your mom like the game too? She read the whole thing to you, so I would assume she would.
-
If you're asking if she's a Chrono Trigger fan, then absolutely. She loved my tattoo, lol.
-
That's superb! How about Chrono Cross?
-
Don't push your luck
-
That's superb! How about Chrono Cross?
Actually yes, adored it. I watched her play it when it first came out as well, before I had actually picked it up myself.
Now it's my favorite ever. As I grew older I understood the concept of the story, and the depth of it and what not and to this day I still can't get over it. The more I play, the more I love! My mother turned me into this machine! Argh!
Don't push your luck
She's like 40! Ah haw haw.

That's awesome! My parents really aren't into games. I think it's cool that parents can relate to their kids better if they both like games.
Why are you "Argh"ing for? You enjoy the game.

I learn to appriciate her and her interests more as I grow older.

LaBella, that is simply the coolest tattoo I have EVER seen on a girl!
I totally want to get Crono tattooed on my right arm, on a sidenote. and maybe a Nu on my back shoulder. Or Dalton laughing maniacally inside the Aero-Dalton Imperial on my WHOLE back.
The possibilities are endless.
-
Yeah, that's totally not a spoiler at all, Boo...You better be glad I've already read through all of them or I'd be pissed.
Stephen King movie adaptations can be kind of hit-or-miss...But, like his books, there's a shitton, so I guess it's easy to see why some of the movies suck...

I think I wanna get a Nu and a Mog from Final Fantasy dancing together somewhere...
Is that silly?
-
Not at all, LaBella, not at all.

As long as the person doing the tattoo is actually skilled at the craft--I've heard of quite a few good ideas going to shit thanks to terrible tattoo artists...
-
Your tattoo is absolutely gorgeous, La Bella! :) I love those vibrant colors. I bet you'll meet a lot of Chrono fans with that tattoo, especially at the beach or pool!

No, that will officially make you the hottest Chrono fan that ever lived.

You just gave me an idea! I may be getting ahead of myself here, and for that I apologize, but you two are the most attractive girls on the Compendium (coincidentally you're also the only girls who show their face in their pictures). Take a picture with one hand straight up in the air, angled forward. Not like a Nazi. Like a hi five. Both a ya's. I'll photoshop it together and it will blow minds. We can send it to SE and be like, look there's ladies that like Chrono too. Booya. Then they'll be all "oh mang ya we should help them out!" and totally release Chrono Brake, which they've been working on secretly for the past fifteen years underground.
Even if none of that comes to fruition, a fan can dream.
-
Just want to say your tattoo looks very cool. If it has meaning to you then you will never feel like it shouldn't be there. Even if its inspired from a game, games can find you a meaning in life, inspire you, move you or just about improve your way of seeing things sometimes.

Not at all, LaBella, not at all.
Alright, sweet.
As long as the person doing the tattoo is actually skilled at the craft--I've heard of quite a few good ideas going to shit thanks to terrible tattoo artists...
I've known people to have that happen to them and get the tattoo anyway because they feel bad when the artist works hard on it...
I don't think I could ever do that, lol.

I think that would be neato if it actually strike up a conversation one day... Well, ahem, other than on these forums because very obviously that is happening as we speak. XD
