History, Locations, and Artifacts / Trip Of Cyrus

Well, it can't be Cyrus' negativity that caused the place to be haunted, since Masamune wasn't corrupted at the time.

True, although I simply point out the stories are a bit similar, however yeah, Cyrus wouldn't actually need the Masamune to become a tortured soul as he did.  Hah, was I the only one that tried several times to see if I could somehow harm or kill him as a ghost?

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Frog's Becomming Human?
« on: March 07, 2006, 12:35:32 am »
True, but Magus seems very much a "what's done is done" type of character, although his attitude in Radical Dreamers does show he considers Glenn neither his enemy but not a friend either.

Although Radical Dreamers didn't exactly take place in the Chronoverse, one must wonder if Magus' personality in RD is similar to the changes his personality may have taken later on.

Moreover is there any possibility or any way Glenn could break free of such a spell without Magus' death?

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Frog's Becomming Human?

So I had this question pop in my brain after completing Chrono Trigger on the PSX.  I noted that in the FMV ending sequence, that Frog has regained his  appearance as Glenn.  However in the endings for Chrono Trigger on SNES this was completely dependent on whether or not you vanquished Magus.

However, I also know that Square likely didn't want to make two different FMVs, one featuring Glenn and one featuring Frog, and therefore opted for one scene regardless of what you do to Magus.

However, final verdict in the Chronoverse:  Does Frog still manage to regain his humanity even if Magus is allowed to live?  Magus doesn't seem to give a damn enough to reverse the curse on Frog, although I will admit in the Radical Dreamers universe he seems to have gained a bit more in the way of manners (and possibly in general, however we never see him in Chrono Cross, so we can't tell if Magus has undergone a change via his travels with Crono and the others).

History, Locations, and Artifacts / Lavos Spawn shells on Death Peak

If you want to get technical about the velocity/speed/space travel and whatnot, Lavos probably also got pretty toasted entering the world's atmosphere.

History, Locations, and Artifacts / Who does Arris Dome belong to?

994 years between the Fall of Guardia and the Day of Lavos is enough time for a kingdom to possibly resurface as well, let's not forget.  Also the comment that Porre had help outside the flow of time to become the power it did...

Lavos, the Planet, and other Entities / Where is Lavos after 1999 AD?

I did, however, after 12 pages, it's hard to track everything said :p

I just was posting what my conclusion based on the plot and on what was said was.

Lavos, the Planet, and other Entities / Where is Lavos after 1999 AD?
« on: March 06, 2006, 02:37:29 am »
Here's the deal in my eyes:

--Lavos is always referred to as "parasitic." Now what parasite lives after the host dies?  Didn't think so.  The planet is already destroyed; this happens in 1999.  By 2300 this planet is dead, simply rotting away.  Soon everything will be dead.

--Death Peak is not a "natural" formation.  Simply by looking at the map it is discolored and stands out from the other mountain ranges in the game.

--"Lavos Reigns from atop Death Peak."  <-- could be a mistranslation such as "Someone close to you needs help" at the end of time.  We have no idea at this point if this was the original dialogue between the party and Belthazar.
Also if you want to add quotes, go to Black Omen 2300 and Queen Zeal will remark that it is too late and Lavos has sucked the planet dry.  This means Lavos can no longer feed off the planet for it's own survival, either.

I think that Lavos erupted in 1999, causing destruction to the world, and likely once he erupted began to feed off the planet at a much more rapid rate once on the surface, likely mutating and growing into what we see as Death Peak - Lavos at this matured state then begins to reproduce, likely the parasitic spawn eat Lavos itself from within (absorbing the knowledge and DNA of the former by process) and from there will launch to new planets to repeat the life cycle of the "Evil Turtles from Outer Space" race.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Chrono Cross Resolutions Discussion
« on: March 05, 2006, 07:14:09 pm »
I'm still wondering how deaths are affected by dimensional unification, myself.

Riddel, if she's in your party at the end, thanks you for giving her one last memory of Dario - almost an implication that if the dimensions unify, Home World's Dario will no longer exist.  Also, what becomes of other characters who are dead in one world and alive in the other such as Direa?

Chrono Compendium Discussion / Correction on Korcha's Entry.
« on: March 05, 2006, 07:09:59 pm »
I hope I'm posting correctly for when corrections need to be made:

I found an error on http://chronocompendium.com/Term/Orcha ‘s character profile which is as follows:

Home World
Orcha's whereabouts in Home World are unknown, as Viper Manor was destroyed soon after the Acacia Dragoons were lost in the Dead Sea.

I’d like to report if it hasn’t been mentioned already, that Orcha is located in Guldove in Home World in Chrono Cross, apparently working there as a chef.  He can be found where Orlha would usually be in Another World.  If you visit him with Another Orcha in your party he will ask about the strange “shadow” behind the other Orcha, and they will very briefly discuss the dark side of that exists in everyone in reference to Another Orcha being “Hell’s Cook.” [/b]

History, Locations, and Artifacts / The face in Terra Tower

The face in Terra Tower seemed to me at least reminiscent of the Mirror in Radical Dreamers that speaks to you.

History, Locations, and Artifacts / Trip Of Cyrus

Here's some of what I think: It's been pointed out Cyrus body was burnt and disappeared or what-not.  That still does not rule out the fact his armor remained; maybe what little remained of Cyrus was buried.  After all his spirit is nothing but an empty suit of armor.

I'm pretty sure it was indeed Frog who buried him, and of course parallel to the Garai/Radius/Isle of the Damned story in Chrono Cross, the negative/lingering sentiments of Cyrus began to transform the place into a forsaken ruin, infested with evil spirits; both Garai and Cyrus had links to the Masamune, one being killed by it, the other wielding it in life.

Strong evidence would support Cyrus' spirit wrote his own epitaph, perhaps his soul filled with regret and feeling weakness for being unable to defeat Magus, which turned him into the undead evil spirit in 1000 AD's ruins.

Also, the regret only seems to grow when the spirit of Cyrus speaks to Frog later, after recognizing him as Glenn he screams and begins swinging his sword in the air wildly, possibly further regretting that his actions also caused Glenn's transformation into a monster as well.

Moreover, speaking of why the far-removed Northern Ruins, it's possible that Frog would want to keep Cyrus' remains away from Magus/Ozzie who have the power to reanimate the slain as monsters as well.  Imagine how the Guardia army would react to some sort of undead zombie spirit they could recognize as Cyrus?  That would be an even bigger morale killer than Cyrus simply being dead.
