Alright, I sent mine in.

« on: April 21, 2009, 03:39:59 pm »check the very first post in this. I have all the lines and characters I need so far written there. You can send anyone you want : ). I designated voices that Mav was going to do, but he said he wants others to participate too, so you can send me any character you want.
I did check the first post. Since there were only 3 males posted, and they'd mostly been spoken for, I thought there might be more that hadn't been posted yet. I guess I'll be trying out my best "young man".

Well, I'll gladly send you a clip, but who would you like me to voice/what would you like me to say?

If you need any more male voices for the English version I could probably help. It didn't look like much was left based on the first post, but if you have something for me I'd be glad to send you a sample.

General Discussion / My New Podcast
« on: February 15, 2009, 04:03:55 pm »
Hi.
My friend Orion and I have just started a podcast. It's not Chrono, or even videogame related, which is why I'm posting it in the General Discussion forum.
It's called I Just Had a Terrible Thought, and it's pretty much us discussing whatever's on our minds. There's only one episode up, and I'm going around looking for feedback.
I should warn you, when this goes up on iTunes it will be getting an Explicit tag, so don't listen if you're super sensitive.

You can comment on our website or the links above, or you can email us at kyle@ijusthadaterriblethought.com or orion@ijusthadaterriblethought.com
Like I said, we're looking for feedback, positive or otherwise, so please let us know what you think.
I hope I'm not violating any forum rules here. I didn't see anything about shameless self promotion, and it's not like I registered just to post this. There was the bit about posting offensive material, but I'm hoping that it's ok if I give fair warning. It's really not THAT offensive. It's mostly foul language. If I'm wrong I certainly won't object to my post being removed.

Chrono Trigger Modification / Re: Chrono Trigger - Schala Project

Um, just to poke my head in where it may not belong... how about Dream Bringer? Or simply Dream Star, instead of Dreamer's Star?

Polling / Re: If you could change Chrono Cross, how would you do it?
« on: December 16, 2008, 07:30:57 pm »
I voted to go back to the Active Time Battle System but I have another, admittedly more superficial change I'd make if I could.
I can't stand Cross's art style. I found the drastic change from Toriyama's character designs to what I see as very bland ugly characters jarring and off-putting. Of course I realize this is just my opinion, but it was a pretty big issue for me. The Toriyama designs had a very distinct feel, and seemed to me to have more personality to them, while the cross designs looked very generic and kind of dead inside. I honestly probably wouldn't have bothered with Cross at all if it weren't for it's connection to Trigger. When I first saw it on store shelves it looked like "Just Another RPG" to me.
I've toyed with the idea of doing Toriyama style revisions of some of the Cross characters for a while now, and I just might. If someone were interested, I could potentially do Toriyama style portraits for a hack, but I have a feeling I'm mostly alone on this one. I think I did a passable job of emulating his style with my female Magus pic http://chronocompendium.com/Term/Image:Maggirlfinal.jpg.html. Not trying to derail the thread with posts of my artwork, I just thought I'd put that out there in case someone really is interested in Toriyama-ing Chrono Cross.
Again, I realize this is all just my opinion, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone were to claim that the art style "doesn't really matter", but it does to me.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: Biplanes in 1000 A.D.?

Oh, don't worry. No offense was taken. I kinda see what you mean, but looking at those really old pre-release videos makes me wonder what might have been. Don't get me wrong, I'm ecstatic with what we got, but I can't help wondering what got cut out/what we would've gotten if they had all the time in the world to finish the game.

Thanks, dude.
I know you said you're glad they didn't leave the planes in the game, but I personally think it'd be kind of cool to see somebody put them back in as a mod. Maybe change the ferry ticket offices to small airports? I dunno, just a thought.

A while back I attempted to recreate one of those biplane sprites. I wasn't fully satisfied with it, but it made it into the fan art section of the Compendium.

Finally found a place to host the full size version of my cart label. If anyone else actually made one, I for one would love to see it.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: What Chrono Trigger Fanboys Really Wanted in a Sequel
« on: August 21, 2008, 10:06:23 pm »
I love Chrono Trigger, but I have never cared for Chrono Cross. I am not a "graphics whore", but I am a very visual person. When I first started seeing pictures from Cross in magazines I was completely put off. The new art style was (and is) completely bland and uninteresting to me, and the apparent lack of direct association with the first game both in the visuals and in what I understood of the cast and narrative at the time made me skip it entirely. I have since purchased the game, because I loved Trigger and felt I needed to give Cross a chance. I've tried to play it a few times, and I just cannot get into it. It just doesn't grab me. I've tried very hard to give a crap about what's going on in the beginning of the game, but I just can't. It doesn't feel like it has anything to do with Trigger, and I can't even enjoy it on it's own merits because I don't care for the new art style, or the new gameplay (the new battle system is kind of crap, in my opinion). The bottom line is, I was extremely disappointed in Chrono Cross, both as a sequel and as it's own separate game, and would love to see a true sequel to Chrono Trigger.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: CTDS... a tad disappointing
« on: July 24, 2008, 10:00:43 pm »Though I'm totally against people who say "I like 2D because it has it's charm to it"...You're living in a nostalgic fog. Worse graphics don't make for better games. It's like saying, "I like to watch old movies because of the grainy quality of the film & the lack of color really adds to everything"
I quoted the whole thing just to indicate what post I was responding to, but this is the specific piece I was talking about. With these sentences you have implied that 3D graphics are inherently "better" than 2D graphics, which is nonsense. I don't disagree that Chrono Trigger in 3D on the DS could have been awesome, I just take issue with the idea that it would have been automatically.

We know Toriyama's style works with 3D & with the DS with DQIX coming out. Enhanced remakes of DQIV-VI are also on the way here pretty quick, and show that even in a limited capacity, enhancing Toriyama's style is all good...& like stated, FFIII & FFIV did ATB style battles perfectly well in nice looking 3D.
Though I'm totally against people who say "I like 2D because it has it's charm to it"...You're living in a nostalgic fog. Worse graphics don't make for better games. It's like saying, "I like to watch old movies because of the grainy quality of the film & the lack of color really adds to everything"...While, an argument for color is plausible, unless you're going for soft-focus for a purpose, I'd rather actually be able to SEE what I'm LOOKING at. Just because there were a lot of good games that looked like shit (when everything looked more or less like shit) that doesn't mean good games now have to look like shit anymore just because it's easy.
I'm no graphics whore, mind you, but graphics are there to enhance gameplay. They aren't the sole reason to judge a game, that'd be like judging a game completely on it's music (if you like it so much, just get the album/MP3s).
BUT I don't mind CT DS being in 2D because I know (or "choose to believe" for you who want a Force Choke) that it's just testing the waters of the bountiful Chrono pool. We are Chrono Community. They will hear us roar. Like a mighty wave upon their shores. TO ARMS!!!
If you are not a fan of 2D graphics that's fine, but to flat out say that 3D is superior to 2D is just nonsense.
Whoops, I accidentally posted in your post for some reason, my bad (I think I hit Edit instead of Quote)! I fixed everything back how it was!
