General Discussion / Re: Stuff you hate
« on: October 17, 2006, 12:33:47 pm »Why do you need external factors to provide the purpose and meaning in your life? Especially something irrational. Your life is your own. It's not necessarily faith is an external force she was talking about, I presume.
Exactly my point. Faith should never come from an external force. Then again I should clarify: is your meaning of "external force" an entity of some kind? Or a religious institution? (Thought you ment the later but then again I might be wrong.)
Lord J esq, you have my eternal gratitude for the awesome post you gave me. And I can't agree with you more about how important it is to vote. I'm just so out of it when it comes to current events sometimes so I didn't know it would be so soon. While I will be sure to vote for the Democratic party, I can't help to wonder if they will be that much better. (Excuse my "childish cynicism")
I'll think of you next time I drink a Guniess.

You have it backwards. Faith is what is dangerous--religious faith especially. Institutionalized religion is a symptom of faith. Indeed, organized religion is probably a lot less virulent than the personal spirituality that many people might develop on their own, were they so inclined.
Don't get me wrong! I think faith is one of the most dangerous things out there! Even strong faith in Atheism can push you to do crazy things. But I still like faith because it can give things purpose and meaning. Its just the conformity of faith I have a problem with.
November 7, baby!
ZeaLitY, baby, fetch the good champagne! Drinks for all, on me! November 8. Win or lose, in this political environment we're gonna want 'em.
Whats going on Nov 7th? (I haven't been able too keep up with dates of important events lately) And does ZeaLitY have a bottle of vodka indstead? Champagne makes me a bit sick these days.
That reminds me of another thing I hate: BEER. It tastes like carbonated earwax. Unless its Guinness. I love that for some reason.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Things For Bored Chrono Fans to Do!
« on: October 13, 2006, 03:03:40 pm »
Yeah we've played the games several times over. We've contemplated the deep underlying meanings of the plot. We've discussed topics on the forums. Now what? Post suggestions/links of goofy creative things for a bored Chrono fan to do!
Example: If you are talantless at drawing, make an animated doll of a Chrono character online! eLouai is in my opinion the best site for this. Waaaaaaaay more challanging than you think because of the limited wardrobe options.
Here is my Lucca and Marle! I dare you to make some that are better! (Actually you wouldn't have much of a challange)
http://elouai.com/doll-makers/new-dollmaker.php
Also, go to this site and sit there and be amused for a good few minutes.

Polling / Re: 3/31/06 - Would you buy a console for a new Chrono game?
« on: October 06, 2006, 05:17:50 am »I would buy it as long as the system didn't cost an insane amount of money.
The PlayStation 3 is way to much
$1000 is a bit much for a games console!!!
Wow I heard its only going to be $600. Well if a new Chrono game did come out for PS3, I would actually shell out however much necessary. I would do a lot of grumbling about it though.
I read $1,000 when my dad was looking at stuff to order for his computer buisness.
It said that $1,000 would be the average retail price. Which sucks. I might be wrong though. Also I live in Australia, maybe it's more expensive here or somthing.
I dunno...I got my info based on this article
http://www.gamespot.com/e3/e3story.html?sid=6149470
But of course you might be right too about the Australian price. Either way, its a ridiculous price and I'm not getting one any time soon after they come out.

General Discussion / Re: Stuff you hate
« on: October 06, 2006, 04:19:44 am »I hate large groups of people. The larger a group of people get, the more collectively irrational and stupid they become.
Perhaps thats why I too hate religion. That is not to say I hate faith, but the intstitutionalization of it in a group prevents the individual from making his own personal decisons on it.
I hate the direction the U.S. government is headed for lately. Look for national i.d. cards and suspention of habeus corpus on the whim of the president in the near future!

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: More Cross ruminations
« on: September 29, 2006, 07:20:46 am »
Wow, what to say on this topic that hasn't been already very eloquantly said already.
Chrono Chross was a great game, pure and simple. The graphics were very nice for the time, the music is gorgeous and the plot is complelling and dramatic.
That being said however, I did have a few qualms with it. Mainly the plot, while good, was far far to convoluted. At the time when I played it, I was 16 and considered myself pretty intelligent for my age. Then, when I got 2/3 through Chrono Cross, I was at a complete loss. I had no idea what was going on anymore. How was Lynx Serge's father? Why did Dinopolis get dragged from one reality to the other and then started battling Chronopolis at a random time in history? What the heck does the Frozen Flame have to do with any of this? And how was I supposed to freakin' guess that I had to cast all of the elements in the proper "melodic order" in order to get the "real" ending without a game manual?
This game literally lowered my intelligance self-esteem during that year of my life. Over the years, I have replayed Chrono Cross, looked up various wikipedia articles about it, and researched on sites much like this one. I now have a mostly comprehensive understanding of the plot, and of something else as well. I'm not the only one this happend to! I'm not the only one that this plot totally perplexed and frustrated. As mentioned in another Cross article on this site, it was the pacing that went completely wrong. Far too much complicated information presented all at once to the gamer, with no chance given to comprehend any of it.
Thats my real complaint about it. Well that and...
Leena (thats her name btw) was pretty annoying. Serge could have done waaaaaaaaay better.

Take for instance, the female friend of Serge near the beginning of the game - I forgot her name because it's been a few years now - she REALLY got on my nerves!

Reality, Real-World Connections, and the Supernatural / Re: On the article: The secret of nu.
« on: September 28, 2006, 11:02:12 pm »Nu's will most likely appear in the next or last Chrono game.
If all life begins and ends with Nu, then Nu's are the destruction of life on this planet and/or everything. A group of young heroes/new heroes/past heroes will then have an adventure to stop the Nu's or something along that line of saving the world.
Yes...The Nu's will smack the world down to 1 hp and then attack it again before it has a chance to heal itself. Damn dirty Nu's! All joking aside though, that would be an interesting, if unexpected plot.

I would if only to kill her over and over in different horrible ways...then make her act like a chicken for 10G.

« on: September 26, 2006, 05:26:06 am »
I guess I choose Dark Eternal because its just so fun to watch and seems to be highly potent against the majority of the baddies in the game. Magus doesn't do hardly anything in combination with anyone else so I have fun forcing him to work with his fellow teammates.

Haha! This is actually getting very interesting...So far the beginning and end of all life can be water, chaos, or women. Actually now my money is on women now since they can bring life into this world, but if you piss one off, they can make you regret you were ever born.
