Didn't people say in that thread that people thought it appeared because Black Hole erases the background graphics? They might just be trash data or something that they hid behind the background...

Though it is interesting. I believe this was asked in the original thread as well, but has anyone tried this in other areas?

This intrigued me so I tried with bosses n' stuff (Garai, Dark Serge, FATE, etc...). I didn't see any errors. It could be a glitch, one out of two and a half that's in the game. I didn't try it on Vitas, don't have a save that close.

There is a way around the double eboot problem.

I'm using the double eboot on the latest CFW. It works.

You just need to boot from disc 2, and then when it asks you to change back to disc 1, switch over again. It freezes on the playstation screen if you just try from disc 1.

There is more than one way. You can also use cwcheat memory card manager to go through boot part via PC's ePSXe emulator, converting memory save from PSP to ePSXe and backward after saving on ePSXe, bypassing boot.

as for graphics: They cannot be a smooth and detailed as on PC and can't be blurred as on PSX because it either doesn't recognize or it doesn't support hardware-software rendered blurr. Surroundings look very, very nice, but the polygonal character are a lil' bit jerky. Nothing that should seriously mess with your gameplay - specially since there's absolutely no slowing down what-so-ever. Besides, I'd play CC even if all you see are polygon lines.

My say is that the Gates became overused, so Laws changed.

Although this is probably incorrect, it's actually a very good topic to discuss in philosophical observation.

It does. Best shot is converting it again or converting your own to fix id to scus94something, it's written up there in my link, for a 3.71 m33 version, and match disc id's. The whole process is important because sometimes the actual game id isn't changed and it still show original id, instead of forced one. It freezes on entering status screen, but the only real point of going to status screen is to look under girl's skirts and observe their panties so I suppose we can survive not being able to do that to at least some level.

Alternatively, for disc change, you can use cwcheat memory card manager option to transfer save file from psp to PC, play through disc change on ePSXe, store and return it to mem card, load it with mem manager and proceed with play. Kills the game a bit, but boo hoo.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Rockroach glitch
« on: November 27, 2008, 05:07:44 pm »
The Rockroach glitch. Anyone had that one?

When you have to get to Earth Dragon, there is a glitch that knows to appear at the last Rockroach on lower level; after you defeat it, instead given option to push it to sandpit, the game tells you "Push it towards sandjet to stop the flow" when you "X" it. Basically, you can't pass it, can't get past it, and can't reach ED.

So, I had this few times before, but every time I'd just re-enter the room, defeat it again, and the option would appear. However, this time it doesn't. Playing on didn't help, defeating didn't help, save-exit-load didn't help, reset didn't help, re-entering didn't help, changing leading character didn't help, changing team didn't help, nothing.

Anybody has a clue as to how to unlock this god damn glitch?

Could you perhaps link the firmware you used and tell me the ID that goes along with it?

Found the link for ya, take a look at this:

http://www.gamerspress.com/index.php?title=PSX_on_PSP_Compatibility_List

Then, google. Or search afterdawn.com forum, everything is mentioned there. The reason why I am not writing you everything here is because there is so much to do to make this work. plus everything depending on the model you have/will have, that it's pointless even trying; so it's best you slowly go and figure on your own. That's how I did it.

Anyone know how to play Chrono Cross on a PSP? I'm thinking of getting one, but only if I can play CC on it

Download Chrono Cross for PSP from any torrent site or rip your own Chrono Cross at home to PSP eboot.pbp format using popstation gui program for converting. You are, ofcourse, requierd to have an iso image before converting.

Then, you have to flash your PSP memory to an appropriate homebrew firmware, my suggestion is 3.7 if fat, or above if slim; the instructions, tutorials and files are all over the net.

Then, you need to check the Chrono Cross PSP issues list and exactly match the CC disc id's using popstation gui with firmware version, otherwise you'll never finish the game because there are too many freezing moments. Disc 1 and Disc 2 also must have the same ID in order for virtual memory card to load recorded file, because you can't switch discs or change iso/pbp files during play.

I'm playing on fat system with 3.7+ firmware and changed ID corresponding to the particular firmware. Yup, let love bleed...

It extracts just fine with WinRAR. On a related note -- Mario's in this? Oooh, and Barubary from Breath of Fire II. Fascinating. I might have to play this just to see how it all works out.

That's the type of fan games I consider redundant, a surplus made driven by some inner desires that do not follow any respectable rule, and I do, before everything, first show respect to the made theme, and then work by following it - not cracking it. That's why I hope retards from Squarenix will never ever consider remaking (since they already can't make a game) or creating a sequel either to CT or, god forbid, CC, because it really would just ruin the magic.

While I agree with your point somewhat, I have to say I hate unrelenting fanboys who think that a sequel or something "ruins" the original. As if the original is overwritten or erased from existence just because they decide to expand upon the series. It's ridiculous. If you like the original more than the sequel, guess what? The original will always be available in all its glory for you. All that changes are your own retard perceptions of how things should be.

The sequel ruins if done badly (eg. Deus ex 2 to Deus ex, Fallout 3 to Fallout 2...). Now speaking for myself, back then I was very, very pleased with Chrono Trigger. Chrono Cross, the sequel, took my breath away. Right people did the right thing in the right moment at the right time. That's why it is good. However, with people at disposal today, making a sequel would ruin it. No, it would not ruin "original", it would ruin the TITLE, the very game. That, from my perspective, is non-discussable, and the arguments are all around. You see, perhaps a person has every right to expand the title, and perhaps gamers have every right to play whatever is given to them, but there are also people who see particular creations of art in a very different light. In my words, "some things should not be touched again". It's the same feeling like the one when you play a game, and decide to cheat. A cheap trill at first, but then it leads to gameplay being ruined for you. Instead having fun, the game is ruined. For example, if someone someday would make a sequel to Man from Earth, Unbreakable or Fifth Element. Or a Book sequel (which was not meant at all) to The Farm. Movie/book can be who knows what, but it simply is not that title anymore (unless the very same people with the very same passion and interest do it) - it's some kind of sequel that bends the original's divine, perfect self. Productions change, results change, and these results have nothing to do with the title that once was.

Fanbased games go beyond - while a good company does something to please majority, home-made work does something to please themselves, ultimately missing the title.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: Serge and Kid at the fireplace ?!

I suppose it is kind of an important scene to the canon as well. Especially how Kid notes that Lucca was kidnapped, rather then killed. This would mean Lynx took her somewhere, instead of killing her at the Orphanage.

Uh, it's already well known canonically that she was kidnapped first...why would Lynx/FATE just go there to kill her? They tried to get her to release the Prometheus lock on the FF first. When she didn't comply, that's when they offed her.

Anyways, I didn't think this was a big scene that people missed...I mean, it's just part of that character branch, right? I like it though because it adds a nice bit of Character Development to Kid...If only more characters had more such touching scenes like Kid...

No matter what people say and no matter do they like it or not, vital game element is Serge - Kid relationship. Without them seeking each other in eternity, game would actually be very, very empty. Atleast for the storytell. But you can judge by my avatar I hold special regard for Kid. The only thing squaresoft (or screenwritter) didn't do is push the relationship; rather, he made us be the observer of something that is there, but our comprehension doesn't really depend on it; we will either "get emotional" with Kid-Serge fillers, or will just see it as something that occurs and don't really care, other than understanding the prime theme beyond the two

Oh, it's already there. Then I guess I don't have to upload it.

edit

I'm impressed he could record sound. I can't do that. I think I'll edit that video's speed and reupload it to my acc. Come to think of it, I think I'll record entire game when I start anew on PC.

Heh. Interesting that you don't know about this. Here's the conditions:

- If you got Razzly and had her in the party during the Hydra Marshes quest to save Kid, Rosetta the fairy will survive and you'll get a scene with Razzly and her, after which you will receive a Whisp Cape
- If you got Razzly but didn't have her in your party, Rosetta will die
- If you never got Razzly, Rosetta will also die and you'll get the Serge and Kid campfire scene

Hope that clears it up

Didn't have her in my party for the entire game,  I guess, because I had her during Marsh but didn't during water isle, because I did get a wisp cape. So, I'm supposed not to save Razzly in order to get Kid fireplace scene? I can't remember at all is that the condition, but if you say so, I'll have to test that. I'd choose that scene over Razzly's wisp cape anytime.

@ Boo: Yes, but it doesn't always happen, obviously, it depends.

@ Faustwolf: I'll try going through the game on pc today and do as DS mentioned (the other ds, ha ha), and record a screener, then I'll upload it.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Serge and Kid at the fireplace ?!

Ok I passed this game 134 times now. On psx, epsxe emu PC, ps2 and now playing on psp. Just a moment ago I was absolutely shocked to see this. I thought for myself I'm some kind of chrono cross guru, only to see a scene I have NEVER, in my past 134 plays, seen before.

So, what I saw is, after saving fairies from dwarf invasion, there's the time of dusk, the game cuts to a scene with Kid and Serge sitting by the fire during night, where Kid explains a thing or two to Serge (thus making the story far more clear and with a pretty good point). This warm moment is something that NEVER occured at any point during any of my previous games. To test it, I loaded a save on my PC and went through all the quests again up to that point only to pass through the water isle without that scene showing!

So...wtf? Am I supposed to fulfill some kind of requirements for this scene to occur? Are there special versions of game that contain that scene? Does that perhaps occur random? Does it, perhaps, happen on second, third run of game, or what?? @.@ I really care to know this, specially since I'd like to see that scene few more times, or better say, every time I'll play it.
