The Great To-Do List / Re: 1996 Chrono Trigger 2 demo video "supposedly" in existence?
« on: February 07, 2011, 06:52:07 am »
Thanks for sharpening, Mako said she'll try to get the videos as high-quality and enlarged as possible when she posts them on her own site.
The Chrono Cross line:
さあ、愛に血を流させてやろう!地獄の海のように、紅く……深く……!
The Xenogears line:
さあ、愛に血を流させてやろう…… 地獄の海のように、紅く、深く……!
All that's changed is some punctuation.

Thanks to Mako of Xenogears-Fansite's help (http://xenogears-fansite.com/forum/topic/750-looking-for-important-footage/page__gopid__1169), a page full of Xenogears demo videos was found at RPGamer (http://www.rpgamer.com/games/xeno/xg/xgmov.html).
Here is the video in question (http://movies.rpgamer.com/other/psx/xg/xenogear3.mov). The line is shown when the red transformer-like face appears, about 1/3rd of the way through.

Kid is incredibly skinny even for a Japanese girl. My first host sister was 110 at 5'5 and incredibly thin. Another 15 pounds off would've killed her.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / TCRF Wiki - Compiling the Unused and Cut Content in Video Games (Chrono Too!)
« on: November 14, 2010, 09:42:01 am »
TCRF is a wiki dedicated to cateloguing unused and cut content from video games, such as debug menus, unused music, graphics, enemies, levels, and more. It's got a great section on Chrono Trigger already and a stub on Chrono Cross. It could sure use your help to expand! Head on over and check it out!

Hmm, I don't know. It's spelled the same. Is there another robot in the game? The term is 合金ロボ.

The Great To-Do List / Re: Material Requiring Translation
« on: March 04, 2010, 06:49:58 am »Just curious... I know this is a Chrono community and whatnot, but would you guys be willing to do translations on other things as well? There are still a good amount of great SNES RPG's that haven't been fully translated or haven't even been started on and I was curious what your take would be on working on some of them.
What sort of material are you thinking of? I have a game translation site at www.glitterberri.com and I might be interested in taking something on if you have anything of interest. I'm not sure Chrono Compendium is the best place to ask about other games, but it wouldn't hurt to make a list of what you have in mind.

« on: November 26, 2009, 07:08:30 am »Zeality, Homepathy is alternative medicine that WORKS, i have tried it out on my own skin and also make some for mylsef,is nature based therefore much weaker then chemical cures we have today, but people have right to choose for them selves i guess.
Actually, both natural and synthetic compounds can have equally powerful effects on the human body. Just because something is natural doesn't necessarily mean it is good for us. It doesn't matter how it was made, what matters is what it does to you.

Site Updates / Re: "Room 1" Chrono Cross Event Planner Interview Translated
« on: July 30, 2009, 02:05:40 am »
I'm glad you enjoyed it, everyone. Next up is the second Battle Room interview in the Ultimania series or possibly a Chrono Trigger mail interview with the story planner, both courtesy of ZeaLitY.
Thanks for the fix, utunnels. Not having played the game I wasn't sure how Poshul spoke, but this is a nice rendering of what the developers wanted to say. I'll edit the interview page to be more accurate in this regard as soon as I return home. ^^
Quote「”1人称”はその人を見た”体言後置形”」とか。それがプログラムを通ると、「ポシャルはその人を見たでしゅる」といった漢字に変換されるんですね。Quote”‘Person 1’ saw that person ‘Ending Word,’” etc. Then when you’d put it into the program, you’d get “Poshul saw that person!”
Although these things don't fit English grammar...
Kinda like "[first person pronoun] that person saw[substantive postpositon]."
To make it more CCish, maybe:
Poshul thaw-shuru that perthon.
or
Poshul thaw that perthon-shuru.

General Discussion / Re: Spring and Summer
« on: March 05, 2009, 03:22:39 am »
You're so inspiring, ZeaL!
My summer plans are currently to take off from school here in May and travel around Japan for a month or so with my boyfriend when he comes to see me here after he graduates college. Then we'll take a plane from Tokyo to Sydney or Brisbane and meet up with his Canadian friends who spent half the year picking fruit in various locales and work on an orange farm in Australia. We'll probably camp out instead of rent a place, so most of the money we make from that can be spent financing any travelling we'd like to do in the country. I'm really looking forward to it!
I didn't think it was going to work out so well, but I recently found out that I made a mistake in my calculations for the amount of money I'd have to spend and I'm actually coming out with enough on top to visit my old home in Tokyo at the end of the month as well!
Just remember, all you need to see the world is enough for plane or boat fare. The rest can be earned working in the country you choose, and it's really not that tough to live and find work! Remember, risk is adventure. Take a deep breath and step out into the world!

History, Locations, and Artifacts / Re: Fall of Guardia / Viper

Kid
ガルディア王国なき後、のしあがりやがったパレポリの野郎どもに一泡ふかせてやるぜ!
Kid
「After the death of the kingdom of Guardia, I'm gonna strike a blow against those arrogant Parepori bastards!
Viper
ガルディア王国なき後、のしあがりおったパレポリのたわけどもに一泡ふかせてくれるわ!
General Viper
「After the death of the kingdom of Guardia, I'll strike a blow against those arrogant Parepori fools!
What Kid says is tougher, yeah. She sounds like a punk while General Viper's wording is more refined. I'd take the Japanese over the English... I'd presume that the way the creators originally wrote it or had it written would be their aim, with any fluctuation in meaning due to the translator. The translator may have heard from the creators that the kingdom would be defeated, but you'd think that the Japanese version would correspond if this was the case. It may just be that the context hinted to him that a defeat would take place.

They means the same thing, but Kid calls Porrean fellows/bastards(I don't know how to translation it exactly, but sure it is usually the worst word used to call someone) while Viper calls them fools. Kid's wording is more like a bandit than a general though.
And something strange, in the ENG version, Kid says "After we defeat the Kingdom of Guardia", in JPN version, Viper says after the downfall of Guardia... I'm really not sure if Guardia was destroyed by Viper.
