Every cause and effect, that Crono has in history, is predetermined. There is no other way Belthasar would have known that Crono would need the Epoch, and that he would have a charged Pendant, which opens the Zealian doors to it. There's only one problem- the Black Omen. If Crono's decisions eventually lead to the birth of the Black Omen, then why does it not exist from the very beginning? There has to be a 'variable' in there, somewhere.

As for Ayla, she would eventually go back home at the end of the game without changing much. She doesn't die in the story, and she's uninterested in understanding or documenting all the details she can't comprehend. So, I don't think her short absence from home really affects the future.

I, too, enjoyed FFXII. The characters felt very real, unlike the emo anime crap you find in most RPGs nowadays. The only reasons why FFXII didn't do so well is because the story wasn't 'dramatic' enough, characters had no individuality in terms of gameplay, and the battle system is a ABS opposed to the generic isolated ATB battle system. Personally, I dislike the concept of respawning chests, but that's just me. I very much disliked the License Board, that thing was just an unnecessary obstacle. But, despite the cons, I still enjoyed FFXII.

Well, Belthasar knew that the Chrono Trigger would be used on Death Peak, before the team decides to interupt Magus. So, he knew Lucca at least made the Gate Key. Time would have continued on from 600, even if Marle and the Queen had vanished from history. The question is, would have Leene's Bell still be made, or would the making of Leene's Bell dramatically effect Lucca's existence? If the Gate Key gave Lucca some kind of immunity, then Leene's Bell must have been made, which means Queen Leene must be the only Queen in that era. By Lucca's presence with the Gate Key, Marle then could have been forced to disappear. Don't mind me, I'm just blabbering nonsense.

Schala and Janus are step-siblings, which means either the King, the Queen, or both had at least one relationship with someone else, prior eachother. Janus is of royal blood, but it's unclear to whether Zeal is the Queen's maiden name or not, or even if Janus is son to both the Queen and late King. Just my two cents.
