Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: Obsidian Wants to Work on Chrono Trigger
« on: July 07, 2010, 02:35:20 pm »
Actually, my biggest concern is getting Yasunori Mitsuda to score the game's music. I'm sure he would do it, but the problem is whether or not Obsidian might ask him to even do it or not. Masato Kato is also a very important asset to the story and if they do ask either one of the two to work on the project I can only hope it's a pair package deal.
That, alone, is a scary enough thought to just maybe not want a sequel without met demands by the fans.
Edit: I now see the redundancy of my post. Well then sirs, we find ourselves in agreement =P

Here is an additional article posted on Kotaku
http://kotaku.com/5580833/obsidian-wouldnt-mind-tackling-a-chrono-trigger-sequel
I personally don't see a problem with this except the comment comparing it with Star Wars and space and what not. I know Xenosaga games weren't really that bad at all, but the direction they took by going "into space" really bothered me. I don't mind space being involved in Chrono games because they've already introduced time and dimensions, but there is a right way to introduce space and a wrong way. After all, the entire Chrono series takes place on the same planet in different time periods and in different dimensions. Space would have to include some kind of origin story for Lavos or something of the like.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: Chrono Trigger Fan Fest!!!!
« on: June 21, 2010, 12:18:31 am »
It's an online event. On the event you visit the page and there is usually streaming CT music and a community chat. On schedule, they have hosts that stream live coverage of them playing through the current game play point that the community plays up to each day. In between you can check out fan remixes, fan fiction, fan art, screenshots of community members, etc... It's a load of fun if you're into the sentimentality of it.

Yeah over some time they will be posted. I think progressively as the game play points go on they will post new merchandise to the store for the event. They're keeping things a secret on us lol. I'm not with Fangamer, but I know for a fact my homies over here would be absolutely stoked to be part of this spectacular event. The more popular it is the better. They used to only do Earth Bound events called EBFGP, but now they're expanding to CTFF and M3FGP (Mother 3) down the road.
I think it's amazing and I hope that they can make this more than an annual thing for more games. The more people that show up the more merch they sell and the better chance they keep holding the events. I think they have a killer concept going =P

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: How Does Chrono Cross Trick Exactly Work in Final Battle
« on: April 08, 2010, 10:44:07 am »
I got it done on my 2nd try during my last play through. It was its own challenge, but it takes away from the whole "Epic Final Battle" element which Trigger had. Don't get me wrong it was EPIC in its own way and I'll never forget how deep that whole sequence and ending hit me, but doing this definitely leaves you feeling like the best battle happened against the Dragon God.

Chrono / Gameplay Casual Discussion / Re: Is Magus really all that cool?
« on: April 08, 2010, 10:20:18 am »
Magus goes from a borderline lawful-evil to a chaotic-neutral personality throughout all of Trigger. I think, for me anyway, it was that Chrono Trigger was the first game I ever played where the clear distinction of a villain became a hero. I also found his sprite animations extremely cool being a young kid. I think many of us actually DO look at Magus with some subjectivity, but that just goes to represent the affect it has had on us and how strongly we all feel about these games and these characters. =)
EDIT: Well technically Golbez did become a good guy in FF4, but it just isn't the same level of epic as Trigger. I DO find Golbez and even Kain to be some of the best characters on par with Magus for cool sprites, dark and chaotic personalities, and cool names =P.

Welcome / Birthday / Seeya! Forum / A new long time compendium follower just joined the fray.

Hi everyone,
My actual name is Dan, but my internet handles generally go by Sourkeys, Jizzozo, or dyzzi so if you find someone in-game (mainly Blizzard games, but others maybe too =P) by those names it might just be me =P.
I've been a long time Chrono Trigger fan since around its release in 1995. I don't remember what age I first played the game or what year, but it was definitely somewhere in the mid 90's because I have fond memories of the game in my early pre-junior high school years. I'm 22 (23 this August) and I have been using the compendium for years to get my Chrono Trigger music and news fix along with some other relative sites and I finally decided I should probably get into the community a bit and meet some fans of what I personally believe is the best video game ever created. I'm a wee bit of a musician so I might get into the CT spirit with some covers down the road, but I have nothing to share with you right now unfortunately due to my college life getting in the way of many of my beloved hobbies.
On the other hand, I also regard Earth Bound, Mario RPG, FF4-6, Zelda 3, and Secret of Mana as the BEST of the BEST games ever. I would honestly say that with Chrono Trigger at the top of that list working down is how I would rate them based on childhood memories and good times with best friends.
Currently I am very interested in Starcraft II and I will definitely be buying it when it comes out. Unfortunately, I don't have a Beta key, so I won't be able to hand out any friend invites =\ sorry. On the other hand I do know of a way to experience the beta offline against AI, which I have been abusing for a week or so now. It's fun to play a game that gets changed and updated very often lol.
Anyways, I'll be snooping around here. If I ever decide to get creative I will share it with you folks. Thanks for having me =D
