General Discussion / Pictures of Lucca in Xenogears
« on: July 29, 2005, 07:35:04 pm »
I might try to get Xenogears sometime, but is it anything like Xenosaga? I have Xenosaga Episode 1, and I'm not very far at all in it, and I do NOT like it. Too many cutscenes, not enough action, and the story seems too boring so far.

Speaking of downloading games, I prefer torrents. You need a client such as Azereus and then just search at a site such as Torrent Reactor.

It's not very easy to get a virus on a P2P network as long as you have some common sense and a decent understanding of how computers (well, Windows especially, assuming that's what you're using) work.
Basically it's this: don't download applications (anything ending with a .exe extension)
and the rest of most files are usually obvious if they're viruses. In other words, don't download something called "britney spears pokemon xxx linkin park avril lavigne.gif". One time a friend had a filename kinda similar (well, the first half or so of what I just said was pretty accurate) and it caused his computer to freeze or something whenever he opened it.
EDIT: To answer the original question, like Zizzlepop said, it's possible but highly unlikely. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it unless you're planning on sharing the file (which, even then, isn't a HUGE threat unless you have a ton of files being shared illegally 24/7).

Yeah, but are any of those examples free...much less done in flash format? I think it was pretty impressive for being flash...
The ones I listed are free. Ragnarok Online isn't exactly free but it's not too hard to find a private server to play on.
Flash, to me and to many others I'm sure, is a major downside for an online RPG. The feel of Flash games is usually pretty bad, and sometimes you'll get pukey-looking frameskips and unnecessary special" effects.
I'm not flaming you though man, just the game.

Indeed.. I used to play Ragnarok Online (private servers). Fun but very repetitive and boring since there were no quests..
WoW and GW I have not yet played because my video card can't handle very modern games. Once I get a job, then a car, maybe I'll get a new PC.

I agree. Much better online RPG's exist.. Goonzu Online, RuneScape, and some others.

General Discussion / Mirror of Temporal Flux?
« on: July 24, 2005, 04:00:25 am »
It appears the Temporal Flux website ( http://geigercount.net/crypt/ ) is down, and has been for the past few hours that I've been checking it. Does anyone have a mirror?
