Lavos, the Planet, and other Entities / Does the Entity exist?

I always figured the Tesseract was outside of time itself and given Schala's powers, she could affect the timestream because she wasn't part of it.

I believe the Entity allowed humans to live because it made a mistake with Dinopolis. It tried to balance out Chronopolis' existence, but FATE overtook Dinopolis. Thus basically eradicating the Reptite Timeline. The peak of their evolution was defeated by FATE in a timeline controlled by Lavos.
Well humans are the lesser of two (or three) evils, so it helped them take on Lavos and the Time Devourer.

I used Marle Crono and Frog. Marle was my healer, and Crono and Frog Dual-Teched the Lavos bits.

Since Schala is thought to be one of the ones orchestrating the events of Chrono Cross, and since she is in the Tesseract, she has access to every timeline, every dimension.
One could argue that Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross happen simultaneously. If that's true, then Schala is able to change events in both adventures.
I don't think Schala is the entity, but that's just my way of trying to explain the notion.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / Why would Serge and Kid get married?
« on: August 16, 2005, 11:39:54 pm »
Believe me, I completely understand the sentiment. You grew to love a character, and the idea of her simply being assimilated into someone else, thus erasing her general existence, is a tragic ordeal.
But it's designed to be tragic. Schala sent a piece of herself inside Kid, so that it could grow up, live and do the things needed to be done. I don't think Schala cared wether or not she merged back with Kid, though. I don't think she knew for certain she'd even survive her time with TD.
I think the Kid/Schala merger was an unfortunate side-effect from the use of the Chrono Cross.

It compromises Kid's free spirit because that's the point. Her entire existence Kid has known she was a piece of Schala subconciously, and was always fighting against that.
"Clone" is misused in this game, it should be something along the lines of "avatar."
She writes Schala "Kid" Zeal to tell you she is both Schala AND Kid. It's as simple as that.

Lavos, the Planet, and other Entities / Lavos and Time Devourer physical construction
« on: August 16, 2005, 09:25:22 am »
After thinking back on the final battles of CT and CC, I can see a vague pattern in the physical design and LOOK to the final bosses.
In Chrono Trigger, no matter which way you do it, you go through an outer shell and face a very lean, mean killing machine that seems like it's got some kind of awareness or intelligence.
Likewise, in Chrono Cross, facing the Time Devourer, one can see the basic shell, and another entity inside it, Schala.
Now has there ever been any thought as to the relationship between these looks? Could it be that the outside of Lavos is a kind of "armor" housing a sentient being inside? Is it possible that the Lavos one fights inside the shell (not the accumulated DNA creature) is some sort of sentient being controlling Lavos? Or is it being controlled BY Lavos?
Insiide the Time Devourer, Schala seems to be in some kind of stasis, where as inside Lavos, this being is obviously very awake and in control. Could Lavos latch on to other beings as a fail-safe of survival? Why bother fighting for your own needs when you can force someone else to do it for you, the being inside the Lavos shell is obviously connected, "bonded" with Lavos. Should Lavos die, it dies, all Lavos has to do is sit there and the thing on the inside does the work for it.
This COULD be a reason why Time Devourer is so small. Schala is very powerful and obviously hasn't been completely taken over yet, she's still able to be saved. Perhaps the being Cronos and friends fought was the unfortunate victim of Lavos, too far gone to save?
Just some ideas throwing out there.

*smacks forehead* I hate it when I make dumb typos. >.< It's 7 AM here and I haven't slept yet, forgive me. o.O
The only evidence I can think of for Serge/Kid pairing is Leena's fortune reading of "You will not have a boyfriend for a long time." (quote isn't exact)
Now this could just mean the future of THAT Leena, who lives in a world where Serge is dead, OR the fortune teller is looking into her final fate, after TD is beaten, and sees that she is seperated from Serge. But that's really stretching it considering, the whole Komodo Scale thing.

Characters, Plot, and Themes / The Entity's Purpose
« on: August 16, 2005, 09:04:37 am »
I was always under the assumption that the Entity was the planet itself (inanimate objects can have souls within them in CT/CC, just look at Masamune) and that the entire saga of CT/CC was the Planet vs. Lavos, with the people on the planet caught in the middle.
The Planet, like any other living being, wished to survive. Lavos is a bane to planets (and as Time Devourer, entire realities), so really, I think Lavos and the Planet are very similar. They both wish to prosper, they both can control what happens to the beings around them, like space is an ocean and they're creatures living in the water.
Sure you've guys have probably heard it a million times, but as a n00b I'm just giving my perspective.
The Planet and Lavos are two organisms that are fighting for survival.

So...where does Leene fit in with all of this? When the Chrono Cross is used, Serge ends up immediately after finding the Komodo sclaes. (Thanks to Schala?) This is leaving us to assume we're in a timeline in which A) Serge is alive and B) He and Leene are an item.
