Chrono Trigger Modification / Re: Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes - HELP WANTED!
« on: October 25, 2008, 08:59:40 pm »
Wow, it really has been a while. Between moving cities and law classes I'd almost forgotten about CE. Well, I finally have a little more free time and would love to help out again if I could. I am open to beta-testing, anything to help finish up this project.

Yeah, the project has made tons of progress since July. I'm gone (again) for the next few days, but when I get back I'll assist in any way I can. Hell, reading up on all the topics I missed will take a day on its own.

Jesus, have I ever missed a lot. I guess that's what a month of vacation will do to you.

This new map looks great. Really nice job smoothing out the landscape.
On a side note: My apologies for disappearing. I've just been buried with schoolwork and my job.

One possibility for renaming something would be with Magus; at one point, whenever he's ready to go on his psyche-changing sidequest, when he gets back we could have the name menu pop up again, with the default name being Janus and a new character portrait to signify it. He's never going to be completely redeemed for what he did, no matter what volume of good works he manages to pull off in his life, but that doesn't stop him from shifting worldviews.
Agreed. Magus is a title, not his name. At this point he is no longer the dark warlord we all knew and loved.

- Dalton has repeating dialogue at the top of Beast Forest:
" I have a date with with immortality"
- Also, there are roblems with music in some places of the game.
Ex: When Magus faces Golem Boss in Beast Forest, the music changes from boss battle to the normal battle music.
- No music in some places, such as when the two Porre soldiers discuss killing King Guardia.
- Glitchy dialogue in the Reisdence above Truce Market. (After defeating Gen. Montrcrief/Porre Invasion)

Very cool JP. If you could just remove the "I'm Janus Zeal" from my quote that'd be great, as it's a little repetitve.

Janus Zeal - Mune
"I'm Janus Zeal, I betatested and worked on the plot for the game. Hope you enjoyed playing it as much as we enjoyed making it!
Psst... Want to see Chrono Break?
Yes.
No.
That'd be nice huh?"

Alright then. I just wasn't sure if we could make techs available at earlier levels, and whether or not Magus was accessible before level 32.

Can Magus be set at a lower level than what he originally joined the party at? It would make the game unbalanced if he joined at 32 with the other characters at level 10.
Personally, I wouldn't start the characters out any lower than 30. At that level the characters all have magic and a series of techs.
Of course, we'd have to make all the enemies much stronger as well, so you can't just breeze through the first half of the game.

I completely agree with Zeality; a final vista would really set Singing Mountain apart from all the other dungeons available in CT. Fans have been craving SM for years, we might as well make it worth the wait.

Well, things at least look to be heading in the right direction.
As you said, dialogue should be done once everything is already set up. Which makes my job slightly irrelevant at the point...
Anyways, I'll look over the ROM again. So far so good however.

Ending specifics - After Crono and Marle sacrifice themselves to defeat Geddon, the game should try and end on a happier note. I know, CM are dead, Schala is gone (again), there isn't too much for the player to be happy about.
I don't know, maybe it's just a childish desire to wish for a happy ending, but I'd like the game to end with a hope for the future, it is what Crono and Marle gave their lives for.

Well, give these a listen if you're interested:

I really think these would go well with Crono's nightmare of a world ruled by Lavos. If you already have something else in mind, no problem.
I have the rest of the Seiken Densestsu 3 soundtrack as well if needed.
