I don't know where I can post a suggestion to the Chrono Trigger Testament but I wonder of Magus is also based on Simon Magus from the Christian stories.
*Simon had the ability to levitate at will.
*Simon had numerous statues of himself worshipped like Magus does.
*He is a Gnostic figure as Magus is leader of the Mystics.
*Gnostics were at one point an opposition to the Christians who are based on Guardia.
