Hironobu Sakaguchi fought for a Chrono Trigger (direct) sequel
« on: September 26, 2014, 02:49:14 pm »
Hironobu Sakaguchi (Chrono Trigger general supervisor) was interviewed at PAX Prime 2014.

When asked about Chrono Trigger, he revealed:
"We wanted to continue it as a series, but — and I think the statute of limitations has passed and expired, so I think I'm okay saying this — but we just didn't see eye-to-eye with management, and so I went and fought for it, and I officially lost the battle."

Interesting. Hm, statue of limitations huh. I wonder for what exactly, to not divulge the information? But if there was a statue in the first place, does it mean the matter actually went through a legal process? Can't say I know much about law or something to interpret that...

Probably when he was a Square employee he had to sign a contract that limited what he could say about the company in the press — like telling that the reason CT2 didn't exist was some executive's fault.

May have been for the better, as it would've been the same era they were milking FF for all it was worth after their big move which lost them Uematsu. Part of what makes Chrono special is there is so little of it. That and it's good quality.
