Defeat Radius?
« on: September 16, 2005, 10:52:09 pm »
I'd just beaten Chrono Cross (whoo!) and since I was on a slight CC buzz from just beating it, I decided to start working on my New Game + file. I remembered there was one thing I was curious about when I first played the game: Could the Radius giving you the beginner training be beaten?

Anyways, so I fought him, sighed as he seemed to not be responding to my attacks, and smirking as his own did 0 damage. After a while, when he used the aqua ball that was supposed to kill me, I didn't die and responded by attacking him again. When I did that, he said something along the lines of, "Seems you've gotten mighty strong," and then attacked me, this time landing 3 hits for about 60 damage. I attacked him again, and he responded with two consecutive aqua balls, doing about 200 damage apiece and killing my unhealed Serge.

I'm curious, is it possible to defeat him?

The Blue Plate does wonders to his old, crinkly ass.

So you CAN beat him? Hmm...interesting (I'll have to get the blue plate this playthrough...)

Well, even without the blue plate you can do it. When one is at level 99 - and has around 125 power - Radius really doesn't stand a chance. He doesn't do all that much. The ultimate tests for game+ are the endings. Personally, I like the one you get when you finish the game after you decide to have Kid on your team (or reject her.) In any case, it's between that and choosing a path to Viper manor that you have to finish it to get this ending. The only other part I know of that uses the Time of the Dreamwatch music. But the ultimate test: developer's ending. Lone Serge from right at the beginning. That is tough.

Well, yeah, but when you just start your first New Game+, you won't be at lvl 99...

I thought the Ozzie, Flea & Slash fight was kind of tough since Ozzie's a biatch in that fight...especially if you're going for Sprigg to learn their forms (the first time I did it I thought only Sprigg could use the Forget-Me-Not-Pot and I only had one >_>).

Another tough battle is puttin' the kabosh on Criosphynx (sp?) w/o a Yellow Plate (& w/o doing his stupid riddle, of course). Which I never even tried to do...

"Puttin' the kabosh." I don't think I've ever heard that one before. =)

Actually, the riddle is rather fun, and not all that hard, really. Of course, you don't get anything for doing it aright, so actually fighting him is the advisable course of action. But I like seeing him use the Latin, even though I'm not exactly sure what it means.

I found the trio to be rather easy, though Ozzie and his Defense move was not cool making me wait X rounds before I could hit them again.

I was thinking about it, and the Time Devourer doesn't seem too hard. Since in all of my attempts against him, he's always used green techniques everytime unles I beat him up a bit, so just equip the Green Plate and it's done. And for the order, the way I did it (Uplift, Fireball, Bushbasher, Aqua Beam, Gravity Blow, and Photon Ray) sealed up his elements entirely, allowing me to safely rebuild Serge's stamina to 8 for the Chrono Cross.

Though, if he decides to NOT use green elements everytime like he's done, then I can see how that would be a toughy.
