Yeah it is, but you can avoid most battles, so it's not too bad.  I actually ended up doing that my first time through... man, I was so unprepared... but yeah, I'd definitely say go and fight Dario and get the Mastermune.  It's a pain in the butt to get, but it's totally worth it.

Completed! The TimeDevourer was really hard, but ok. Great ending, though.

Hmm...really? I know a strategy against him that works every single time, and if used correctly will suspend his element use for good (well, at least enough time to build up enough power for the Chrono Cross.)

Anyways...congratulations on your hard-earned completion  :D . Now go back through and get Dreamer's Sarong's for each character, which makes for an amazingly easy game (not that it's hard without it...but starting off with level 8 power as soon as you start the battle... )

Which ending did you get?  Did you use the Chrono Cross or deplete all HP?  Just curious.

I used the Chrono Cross.

Thank you all guys for helping me!

*** Bonus ***
Here's what I learned from the walkthroughs:
-That the second game of the series is called ...Magical Dreamers (!)
-That FATE is the hardest boss of the game (!!)
-That the TimeDevourer (with the 6 Dragons) is the easiest boss after MamaKomodo (!!!)

Don't you mean Radical Dreamers? Or is that the name of it in Japanese?

He was making a point about the nonsensicality of the walkthroughs featured at GameFAQS.

Yes, FATE really cracked me up how that one author was going on and on about her, and I only healed once and felt no pressure whatsoever.

I never figured out... How does +X affect the Element? I've noticed that RecoverAll+3 heals a few more HP than RecoverAll. But, what's the difference between MagNegate -2 and MagNegate? What about TurnColor, AntiColor, etc?

V_T, how did you use AntiBlack on FATE? I thought these elements don't work with bosses - I never managed to successfully use one.

And another question, what does HellSoul and HellBound require in order to work? The TimeDevourer used twice HellSoul on Serge and killed him. I used four HellSouls on the TimeDevourer but didn't affect him. Not fair.[/u]

Hell soul is one of those elements that typically don't work on bosses (similar to Magus's, "Black hole," or any of the death summons.)

And yes...Anti Black typically shouldn't have worked on FATE...but it did XD.
