We need our own IRC channel...
« on: January 01, 2004, 11:42:23 pm »
Let's face it: #ocremix@EnterTheGame hates us too thoroughly for that channel to be a viable means of internet communication for us.  Getting rid of the likes of Protricity and Littlechava for good will be a significant improvement to those of us who like IRC.

We need our own IRC channel...

Well, I'll register an unofficial IRC channel and idle in there. Let it be...

#chrono

I'll try later. I was in the process of fabricating a reason that #chrono should be registered, when I realized that 'Zeality' was in my hostname. I said I was someone else on the Compendium just in case the ETG guy knew me from somewhere.

As soon as I get another PC up and running with FreeBSD (maybe sometime this month), I'll try to set up an IRC server on it and set up a zone entry for irc.chronocompendium.com. It's not like we'd have an incredible number of chatters, so the bandwidth usage shouldn't be that much.

Speaking of which, it'd save a lot of bandwidth if the IRC protocol were gzip compressed, but both the server and the client would have to support such a feature.
