Referendum to Divert Resources to a One Chapter ROM Hack

This deals with diverting the Crimson Echoes team to a one-shot ROM hack unrelated to Crimson Echoes to be finished before February hits.

Arguments For

• It has been two years and a couple months since Temporal Flux was released, and all we have to show for it is the Coliseum. It will be several more months before Crimson Echoes is ever finished. By doing a well-crafted mini ROM-hack, we could lay something on the table for fans to enjoy and become interested in ROM hacking through.
• We have little to no idea how Crimson Echoes will fare in getting attention and getting played. By releasing this one-chapter ROM hack, we can promote it and study how well it takes off.
• Doing a one-chapter ROM hack and finishing it will let us witness all the phases of ROM hacking development come together, and will give us some experience of potential pitfalls and advantages (so that Crimson Echoes's polishing / gold phase runs more smoothly).
• The ROM hack can be a quick source of attention and hits before Chrono Trigger inevitably hits the Virtual Console later this year. By having it ready for that, even, we'll have something to snag new fans with.

Arguments Against

• We will be effectively putting Crimson Echoes on the backburner for a month.
• Our plot ideas may require certain respriting. We would need total commitment from spriters to make short work of this; we could outsource if our team people are unable to fulfill the work.

Now, it is your time to argue for or against. Very, very soon we can move forward and I will give the CE team access to the board I've set up. Write what you think of doing a one-chapter ROM hack.

Sounds like a good idea. If people get used to TF and CT rom hacks made from it. Then maybe I will get people to help me with hacking CT. It's hard to work on a Rom hack by itself. Let's do it so we can have more CT hackers on the net

One chapter rom hack sounds cool, but what about all the planning stuff? This needs to be done before the actual hacking begins, like: Will it be an add-on or shortstory(maybe not even Ct related)? Where will it take place? How many members do you need and for what? And all that stuff I actually have no idea about.

Deadline by end of January? Sorry, but I think it is far to less time to finish even something small like this in ~24 days. Just adding/changing a few textboxes and/or enemies may be a bit too less IMO.
How long in min. do you expect it to be?

Incidentally, I have a short hack in mind too. The story begins in 710 A.D. with Robo and Fiona's forest, and ends later. It's an attempt at completely twisting some events while keeping them canonical, so... I'm making it alone to keep the spoilers (sorry about mentioning this "phantom" hack).

I planned to actually begin my hack after Crimson Echoes, but I also see no problem in holding it and participating in this one-chapter hack.

Currently on my hack. I have actually added a map for the title screen though when you go though some loading screens it shows a glitch map, then starts the event code on the corrected map, then goes to the map with out the event code which should be correct for the special event area with no map. Looks like I'm gonna have to move some of this so i won't have that glitch in the final version of the semi-new intro.

Yea, I tried making a thing for the load screen and it doesn't show up.  Even if it did, it'd be blocked by everything else.

It works after new game, that's no problem.  I was experimenting before new game.

I'm definitely intrigued, and I'm sure if completed the ROM hack would be a hit -- everyone loves Magus and everyone loves Zeal. It's a no brainer!

I'll do what I can if you guys go ahead with it. Lord knows I'm not doing anything as it stands.

It's be interesting to do a hack from magus' perspective on the war from CT.
Shortly after he has risen to power as the mystics leader, it will basically have magus launching an attack from his castle, after the mystics have finished building the tunnel. key battles will take place, the destruction of Zenan bridge could be the end to the mini-story.
