Best Video Plugin for ePSXe?
« on: February 19, 2006, 11:20:49 pm »
Could you guys tell me the best video plugin and settings for this damn thing? I must've tried a million different ones.

System Specs:
2.4 Ghz
384 mb RAM
128 mb Graphics Card

That should be all of my system you need. The graphics card is from ATI.

The only two I know of are Pete's D3D and Peops. But you've probably tried those...

I tried two versions of the D3D but not the other.

EDIT: Ok, I just tried the Peops one. It loads up and just stays on a  black screen. What specifically do you use as your configuration for this?

Window mode

Size: 640 x 480

Stretching: Stretch to full window size
Dithering: No dithering (Fastest)

Framerate

*Transparent FPS display
*Use FPS limit
*Use Frame skipping
*FPS limit (10-200): 60 FPS

Options

Scanline mode: Scanlines disabled

(Nothing else checked)

Activate special game fixes: Odd/even bit hack (Needed with 1.5.2 or older)

~

And I am using ePSXe 1.5.2 just out of habit.

-_- I think the problem is my cdrom plugin. What are you using for that?

EDIT: Also, is there a way to make my CD Rom into ISO files?

I'm not sure; I'll have to check tomorrow.

As for .iso

http://www.isobuster.com/

I use .isos mainly because its easier than switching discs in and out.

I'm having trouble changing the cd to iso. It doesn't appear in the top left where the cd should be listed.

EDIT: Ok, the problem is most of the plugins don't detect my E: drive. They detect my J: drive only, which is a virtual drive so I can't exactly put the CC disk in it. :/

Well, now that it's crossed into real hardware, it's beyond me. You can wait for another reply here, or try http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=23 (lot of people visit that one). I have my own problems with a DVD drive I bought; my comp doesn't recognize it when I exchange CDs most of the time.

Anyway, I found out the whole problem. My friend. Wow, I am never letting anyone borrow my games ever again. The reason it always didn't recognice/froze was because there was a giant gash on the bottom of the CD. I downloaded the ISO for the game and it works fine. Since my FFIX couldn't be found, I downloaded the ISO for that game too. There's a problem with this one, however. The battle menu doesn't pop up. Meh, I guess I've gotta tinker with it.

That's the main problem with PSX emulation... You have to tweak the settings for different games. There are a few programs available that let you save and switch between different setting profiles for whatever games you play, but finding the best settings is always a bit of trial and error.

Being a Mac user, it's been a while since I played anything using a PSX emulator. Post a screenshot of Pete's D3D driver config dialog if you need some help getting FF IX working. Maybe I'll remember a few key settings.

Well, since I'm having a similiar problem I thought I'd just post it here.
Anyways, I got Cross and I configured the needed stuff. Now, when I load it, it goes alright (The opening FMV plays alright, ect.) after I pick "New game" and pick "Vibration" off it, the screen goes black. Nothing else happens, all black. Any advice? (Sorry if this talk is illegal)
