Silent Hill
« on: April 23, 2006, 05:57:28 pm »
I fucking loved this movie. It was the shit. It IS the shit. I want to see it again. Really badly. Roger Ebert is truly an idiot.

Ok, slowing down. I've always liked the feel of Silent Hill, even though the only one I actually played was the second one. I liked it more than RE, it freaked me out in the creepy holy-shit-fuck way. RE just made me just and go OH SHIT with fear of my character dying. Silent Hill filled me with deep-set dread and fear. Hellz yeh, beech.

This movie did them justice. I'll admit, the story didn't answer every question, but those unanswered questions don't bother me, especially if they make a sequel. I loved this movie, in EVERY way. They held nothing back. It was brutal, it was freaky, it was fucked up, it was awesome.

I wouldn't be surprised if this movie is more appreciated by those who played the games than those who hadn't, though.

I caught this flick on Friday. I hadn't played any of the games. I think it's not much of a stretch to say that this is the best game derived movie yet; for whatever that is worth. It was technically competent; I really liked the fact that they used survival-horror style shots.

Holy shit though. This movie earned it's "R". There's a bit of heavy handed exposition near the end. I guess if I'd played the games, I'd have been better prepared, but there is some fucked up stuff in this flick, beyond the graphic stuff.

All in all, I'd say it's a good movie, if you are in the mood for a no-holds barred horror movie.

Roger Ebert should stop eating fatty foods.

I haven't watched or played Silent Hill or Resident Evil! I know, crazy, though I'll probably buy RE4 for PC and Silent Hill # for Xbox. Though I gather that RE is more a giant ride of tension, while Silent Hill is more a constant fear, the kind that when you see something freaky when in that state you'll fully freak out, rather than go beserk...or you'll do both.

RE is more of a game where stuff pops out and attacks, you, so its more shock.  Silent Hill messes with your head, and its more creepy and has more tension.

I havn't seen the movie (nor do I plan to), but my brother was crazy about this movie.  I hope its good, so he doesn't waste money on it.

Pyramid Head is in this, right?  Why exactly is Pyramid Head in this movie, or is he just in there to be there?  Hes supposed to be a punisher, not some "I kill things" monster.

The whole story about Silent Hill is different than the games, in a way that makes sense in a complete, whole way. The existence of everything in the movie is explained. I'm sorry you don't plan on seeing this, I have to say: you're really missing out.

And yeah, as Ramsus said, this is balls to the walls, nothing held back. I love it.

I haven't seen it. Looks good. Never played the game or anything though. One thing I'll say is that Ebert is better than that hack he's paired up w/now...But I suppose that goes w/o saying...We miss you Siskle! Or however you spell your damn name!

Ramsus said what now? R_D man.
When you see a good Game-Movie translation you automatically know its not Uwe Boll. And thanks to new German insurance laws, hopefully Uwe Boll will lose all supporters.

BZ is correct. I am not Ramsus, and Uwe Boll should stop making films.

I am not Ramsus
I don't know why, but that made me laugh out loud. Not because of Mystiks totally acceptable mistake, but it reminded me of "I am not a crook" - Richard Nixon.
Not accusing Ramsus of anything, of course.

I met the chick who plays Red Nurse.  Yeah, it's random.  But well.  I did.
