You wanted to know why Belthasar could time travel but Fate couldn't. I don't understand what leads you to the thought that Belthasar being able to do a thing implies that Fate could as well. If reading my question makes you think that such an assumption is baseless, then yes, I've answered your question.

Quite. He hopped in an Epoch and went there.

What I meant to say is, the Epoch seems to be fixed to 65KK, 12K, 600, 1K, 1999, or 2300, the original Entity dates. The Neo Epoch might be able to travel anywhere in time contrarily.

I don't understand what makes you think these are the only areas of time that the Epoch can travel to.  They are just the only points of interest in the Chrono Trigger storyline.  The player accesses all those points in time through Entity gates BEFORE getting the Epoch.  That gives the characters reasons to choose those points in time while using the Epoch.  And there's also an entity related gate in Fiona's forest that takes Lucca back to when her mother got paralyzed.  If the Epoch was only restricted to Entity dates then you'd be able to go there at will.

The only reason the Epoch only goes to 65M, 12K, 600, 1K, 1999, and 2300 is because that's what was most conveniant for storyline purposes.  They programmers couldn't possibly put in enough different scenarios to allow the player to choose any date in time they wish.

Your question is why FATE can't time travel, right?

Well, then let me ask you a question in return: Why would it want to? Belthasar constructed FATE, there was no need for FATE itself to travel through time as Belthasar was already looking after everything.

Still, if FATE wanted to time travel, sure it could. It could just send Lynx (FATE's proxy, and actually FATE too) to get the Neo Epoch. However, I'm not sure if FATE will be able to control Lynx even in other time periods, where FATE might not exist. I don't think that would be possible. If you put it that way, that FATE loses control over Lynx when he travels through time, then it is impossible for FATE to travel through time.

perhaps FATE isn't aware of the neo epoch.  or if it is, perhaps it isn't aware of it's location.
