After winning a contest and having someone else win the same title a year later, you become a
Creative Emeritus.
Then, there are Emerita ranks for the Gurus who have been replaced by new Gurus / contributions. They keep the same images.
Finally, there's Heir to the Masamune
. CyberSarkany won this by being the first to solo / hard the Colosseum and receive a special fan art picture from CuteLucca, worth $50 commission price. It was a total battle thing, and we really should do something like it again (maybe with something drawn by Ramsus since CL doesn't take commissions anymore). That's a shame, since we were thinking about doing a collection to paint all the administrators in some faux-European royalty art thing. I would have been seated on the throne with them standing behind.
And that covers it. Maybe I should make two ranks for inichi and Molotov, the CT and CC speed record holders respectively. I've considered some kind of "Guild" thing under the PHPBB group style where people can make and join their own special groups, but then again, that'd be like those awful RPG forums games and other crap that take it hopelessly off-topic. There's something beautiful in the Compendium's emphasis of functionality over form. Every rank has always been the result of hard-earned merit.
