Also, by many years, I was not referring to decades...simply a few years, say five or so. Since Magus is about 26 during the events of Chrono Trigger, he could easily still look young, regal, and handsome given his physical fitness.

How do you figure? He's a full adult, with his normal sprite, in 590AD when he kills Cyrus. Then ten years pass before the party encounters him. Truth be told, I don't think we can say with any accuracy how old anyone from Zeal is. It is reasonable, based on the Queen achieving immortality through the Black Omen, that the energy of Lavos, as drawn from the Mammon Machine, did in fact slow the aging processes. So how can we say how long any Zealian has possibly aged?

Or the Epoch is involved. Again, I agree with the probability but this is one thing we simply cannot accept as fact until full proof is given.
The problem is that there is no full proof ever given to any of the theories that we have.
Here at the Chrono Compenidum, we put two and two together, see what sources are consistent and how they're related to make ends meet.

Magus went back to 12,000BC - CT FACT.
Lucca dismantled the Epoch - Most likely as it wasn't needed, and if it got into the wrong hands, you get the point (she said she would in one of the endings).
Belthasar seemed to have had some contact with Lucca - CC as Belthasar and Lucca worked on the Promethius Circuit. Belthasar probably informed her that Robo would be in FATE, so Lucca wanted to change the original Mother Brain intellegence so that FATE wouldn't be naturally rogue so maybe Robo could live safely (failed though).
Lucca emphasizes that Magus would have found Kid - And the only way of doing that is by going to the present day.
In RD, Magus can time travel - He searched all time periods till he found her.

And RD isn't direct canon, but it details Magus quite well, what he did, what happened.
If they purposely made Magus have time traveling abilities, then as to the overall story, Magus is intended to have them, just that he didn't appear in CC for us (they didn't want him like overloading the game with his easter egg cameo appearance)
And as for his age, he looks pretty young in Toriyama's prints. Most likely 20ish. He did appear sometime before 600AD and was about 8 at the time. I don't think that it'd go past him to kill Cyrus around the age of 12-16. After all, Crono and co are 16ish and they owned pretty much everyone in the game.

We can't say. To be honest, I don't remember where I got the 26 figure from...I think I recalled it from somewhere on the Compendium itself...maybe that's how old he was when he killed Cyrus...that would make more sense. In any case, I bow to you on this point.

True.

Also true.

None of that is ever stated, and furthermore I again point out that the Mother Brain was corrupted by the Day of Lavos event and did not have naturally rogue tendencies, because that makes no sense. She is a programmed A.I. and would have within her programming what the programmers would write...I'm not seeing why anyone would program some kind of naturally rogue tendency because it makes no sense, especially if it leads to said A.I. turning into a genocidal maniac.

Irrelevant. It is a separate universe, with some obvious differences, and as such we cannot take its history as fact for our own Magus.

No, they didn't put him in there because they wanted to keep their excess of characters and having him would cause the player to want to keep him all the time, along with Kid, which frankly should have been done storyline wise from the start, in my opinion.

Still, while I agree with you on his capabilities, Radical Dreamers has a point...we seem him in his full adult sprite, which suggests he is already an adult at that time of at least 22 or so, judging by the artwork. Since Chrono Trigger had no problem showing when other characters were much younger, such as Cyrus and Glenn in that same flashback, I see no reason why they wouldn't make Magus look like a teen if he was a teen.

^Never stated.
Say what?

Lucca:
We should dismantle the
Epoch.

Its job is finished.

Belthasar seemed to have had some contact with Lucca - CC as Belthasar and Lucca worked on the Promethius Circuit.
^Never Stated
The quote is split up, but this supports it, and we already know that Lucca created the promethius circuit, as in the chip part for the Mother Brain circuitboard to help it not go rogue, whilst Belthasar intergrated Robo into the real Promethius Circuit that betrayed FATE.

Lynx:
   Dr. Lucca Ashtear...
   Unbelievably intelligent,
   and incredibly enthusiastic.
You might even go so far as
to call her a mad scientist.
   Of course I don't believe
   it was Lucca alone that
   devised this plan.
   I'm sure the first curator
   of this research center,
   a man named Belthasar,
had a hand in it, too.

Lucca emphasizes that Magus would have found Kid - And the only way of doing that is by going to the present day.
In RD, Magus can time travel - He searched all time periods till he found her.

^Never stated. He searched 12000 B.C.; what he did afterwards is not shown.
Lucca:
   Or perhaps he has already
found you and is there by
your side as you read this?
   If so, hello, Janus!

   Please take good care of
   my '"little sister"' for me!

Lucca wouldn't say something so irrelevant, random without basis.
As for RD, the simple fact that Magus is in the present means that he did time travel again, after the gates were closed -.-

No, they didn't put him in there because they wanted to keep their excess of characters and having him would cause the player to want to keep him all the time, along with Kid, which frankly should have been done storyline wise from the start, in my opinion.
That's what I meant.

* "I should dismantle it" doesn't mean she dismantled it. Marle made a case for keeping it around, in fact.
* Lynx believes it is Lucca because that is the most brilliant scientist in the current time period. He is obviously speculating, as Belthasar didn't "have a hand in it" -- Belthasar planned the entire thing with no other scientist credited in his speech.
* Of course. But that still doesn't mean that Magus can time travel at will, or that he searched all time periods till he found her. All we know is that he found a way to get to the present. Huge difference.
