To be direct or loose?
« on: August 15, 2007, 12:20:12 am »
I've been working on my own Chrono story (on and off) for a few years. I would hope to one day have it on a game, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.   :(  Anyway, the point of this it to ask the fans of the Chrono series, would most rather read a story that's more directly connected to the events of series or something more loosely connected?

I mean like: Cross and RD didn't come off as having much to do with the adventures of Crono, Marle and Lucca, at first. But the Chrono Crisis project just screams "Chrono Trigger 2".

I'm still going to continue my story either way. But this felt like a question that I needed an anwser to.

I would prefer loose, to be honest. Rather than trying to determine the fates of specific characters, a new story ought to focus on expanding elements of the Chrono world. For example, the game could detail the struggle of the Iokans and the Larubans against the Reptites right up until the fateful day Chrono and friends show up(or perhaps even show the version before they interfered in time!)

Or it could show the rise of the Kingdom of Zeal, from whatever humble beginnings it came from to the centuries of existing of the floating isles.

Maybe perhaps it could chronicle the formation of the El Nido island chain by Fate, or the various events in both Dinopolis and Chronopolis prior to the Time Crash.

The sky is the limit, basically. Expand your imagination. Enrich the world.

One of the things that delights me the most about the Chrono fandom is that they can take little elements of the games and just roll with them to god knows where. Although it's a good idea to ask fellow fans about what they like and what they would like to see more of, it's good to use mostly your own ideas and theories to make something really unique.

I read more stories with the summary "Marle breaks her legs" than "A new threat challenges a new generation of time warriors!" But that's more of a personal preference sort of thing...

Good luck!
