Impossible-to-find CT Song
« on: August 20, 2007, 06:51:34 am »
Hi everyone, this is my first time here, and I've got kind of a long-running problem.

You see, I'm compiling a catalogue of all of my Japanese music (all albums, soundtracks and un-sorted songs - already totaling around 30 pages), and one thing that's been bothering me is the lack of information about a particular song.

The song is To Far Away Times, but it's called To Far Away Times (Orchestrated), and all I need to know is which album is it from... not even the artist or anything like that. The song is indeed orchestrated but OCReMix (Chrono Symphonique) or anything like that. It isn't an spc file either, it's an mp3, 3.91 mb and 4:16 in length...
The only other info that I've got on it is that apparently it is either part of 'Chrono Trigger Remixes' (I want to verify whether this album actually exists, I don't see it here, on Chrono Compendium or anywhere else for that matter, because I'm perdantic in my cataloging)

http://downloads.khinsider.com/game-soundtracks/album/chrono-trigger-remixes

or a torrent of an album called 'Chrono Trigger Orchestrated', which I also cannot find.

This is the full track listing, both albums have the same tracks, and this doesn't appear to be fan-made... all I want is some verification as to what the real album with To Far Away Times (Orchestrated) is called...

01 - PSX Opening.mp3                                  2.97 MB
02 - Guardia Castle.mp3                               1.54 MB
03 - Frog's Theme.mp3                                 2.20 MB
04 - Ayla's Theme.mp3                                 1.36 MB
05 - Magus.mp3                                           1.68 MB
06 - No Hope.mp3                                        1.14 MB
07 - Belthasar.mp3                                      2.20 MB
08 - Zeal.mp3                                             3.03 MB
09 - Schala's Theme.mp3                             2.50 MB
10 - Black Dream.mp3                                 2.44 MB
11 - To Far Away Times.mp3                        3.91 MB
12 - PSX Ending.mp3

Thank You to anyone that can shed some light one this and perhaps has the same song!

Another case of KHInsider hosting weird crap...

I'm pretty sure what we have here is the PSX soundtrack mixed in with some guy's orchestral MIDI rip remixes. Track 1, 3, 4, and 12 are from the PSX; specifically, 1 and 12 were ripped right from the movie files, because they contain the incidental sound effects.

But the rest is all some guy's personal remixes. I've heard these before (thanks for digging them up); the Schala one was probably the second song I downloaded back in fall 2002 following bLiND's Dream of Zeal. I guess the task now is getting more information about whose remixes these were.

But as for this thing's status as an album, bleah. What it does release from the PSX is already out there without the sound effects and in better quality in that lossless torrent. I'm glad you posted, though, because I think someone else had a question about one of these and no one could answer.

Thanks! Yeah, I downloaded To Far Away Times (along with other versions, specifically the 5:46 version, which appears to be official) from some p2p software, and it didn't have any accompanying info, apart from an obscure ID3v1 Tag (winamp) which only gives some url like

mp3downloads.com/artist/moa/

or somethinkg along those lines (perhaps I'll follow it up again)...

But thanks anyway! So it seems pretty certain that the album's name is 'Chrono Trigger Remixes'... yeah, you're right, all that remains now is for me to find out how remixed that particular song...

So if anybody has info on who did the elusive 4:16 orchestral version of To Far Away Times, any help would be greatly appreciated (it could be an artist called Moa on Last.fm - who has this song in their discography or something, but I can't listen to it for some reason - all I really need is confirmation).

If anyone could help me find the orchestrated songs from the PSX soundtrack release, that would be fantastic!
