I'm sure Square Enix is an invisible Big Brother in the Chrono fan community (after all, it did shut down two 3D Chrono Trigger remakes), and here's hoping they aren't dropping Chrono because we are entertaining ourselves with fangames.  And let's hope they don't squash The Darkness Beyond Time overhaul.

The fangames will hopefully preserve interest in Chrono, prepping the way for the long-awaited Chrono Break. By going the hacking route, CC:DBT should be safe. I hope.

I don't see why it wouldn't. We're only voiding the warranty, which after almost Ten years should be long done by now. We're sticking to the original software as well.

Its infringing on their intellectual property.  Which the Chinese CT thread reminded me of the rights to the NES games did in fact expired most of which never renewed. Does this mean that rom/ and romhacking for the SNES will soon be free of Grey-ness of the law as well?

Indeed. And sometime soon, probably 2020, PSX games will be free to hack in to without any repercussion

Come to think of it...what was the last part of that strip talking about? I thought it was talking about Advent Children, but then that was mentioned before that so...we have two things that never came out.

That was probably an early predidction of Dirge of Cerberus. They new an FF7 action game was going to come out, but they weren't aware it would revolve around Vincent.

Everyone automatically assumes Cloud. Anything where Final Fantasy VII is mentioned, it's either Cloud or Sephiroth.

For instance, a game which revolves around Dyne's rise to power in Corel Prison would be a pretty cool action game. I would've bought it.
