I have for years.

By this I mean letting people know about Chrono and recommending it.
Along with this plenty of other games as well. For years now, as in ever since the game came out, no one's really bothered to care. But now, with the DS release AND the fact it's been out long enough for the prices to hit pretty low, everyone I know seems to be taking up interest in this game, following up with realization that if this game was good my other suggestions would be good. In my own area I'm slowly becoming a Guru of Gaming!

I must say, it feels pretty awesome knowing everyone around me is starting to take a turn from saying I'm an old crotchety gamer with a bug up their butt, and only interested n nostalgia, finding barely any interest in their games of today(shooters, simulations, party games, etc.)into the god of magi-er-games...yeah...
Five fake bucks to whoever can get what that last part was a reference to.
It also happens a lot with animes I suggest.

So, here's my point of this topic, have you ever suggested something for someone, they took your advice and turned out to really like it and very appreciative of your advice?

I pride myself on my movie recommendations.  I'll recommend a movie to someone and 9 times out of 10 they adore it.  Gives me a little burst of self-esteem.  Admittedly, my movie guinea pigs are my close friends and boyfriend, so they're people I know preeeety well.

It's happened a few times for books, but most of the time when I tell someone they should read a certain book they end up never doing it.  Too few people read for fun anymore.

I recommend Star Trek: The Motion Picture (the extended VHS version, not the theatrical cut or the new director's cut) to people all the time...but nobody seems to be as moved by it as I was.

Well, I once suggested CT to my brother.

Though he is not a big fan of RPGs (only the Paper Marios have so far caught his attention), he did gave it a try.

Well, it failed. It wasn't because he didn't liked it, but because he doesn't understand English that well.

Now, other than that, I've also once suggested the Super Robot Wars games to a classmate who likes that sort of anime. Although, he left the school before I knew if he really gave it a try or not. Oh well...

So far I've got two or three people to play it, and made another Magus fangirl. It's on the playlist of my DM and a couple D&D buddies, too. We're getting there!
Also when I'm OLD and have a kid he/she shall play Chrono Trigger at age five juuuust like I did. It's the only way to play!

First project I made in Kajar pre-C&D was a hack to get a friend to play the game.  the DS release did a better job than I did.
Also have one other friend who hasn't played it yet but loves the concept and has seen some of it as well, said he almost bought it when he came across it somewhere random but the price was too steep.


As for a general recommendation, as if you didn't see this coming, The Wire.  best damn TV show ever.  If you live wihtout a TV, then go buy one just so you can watch the show and then afterwards you can sell it.

Movies, TV shows, games, and even toys when I was little.

It's satisfying to think that I introduced a group of people to The Office who knew nothing of it before hand.

I plan on watching this as soon as I finish my probable second run-through of Homicide.  The rave reviews, and the fact that it is another crime drama set in Baltimore have both piqued my interest.  Also, I'm happy to see that Clark Johnson is starring in another crime drama!

I always recommend Chrono Trigger to anyone I meet that enjoys great RPGs.

I also regularly invite people into the realm of forgotten, but amazing titles such as Klonoa and all of those other lost but enjoyable games all the time.
