End of the IRC Service

Beginning sometime in the middle of next month (August), the IRC service will be permanently removed from the site. A notice page with alternative service options will be put up in place of the CGI IRC client.

Also, the site will be down for a few days sometime mid-August pending maintenance.

The alternative: http://www.chronocompendium.com/webchat/ Either use the webchat that Ramsus custom built, or use email and IM. The webchat is much smoother than CGI anyway.

Ah, I was expecting this for some reason. Well, at least that alternative webchat looks nice. I'll have to test it out sometime soon.

...just doesn't work for IE, or atleast for my IE.

Maybe you were in the IRC a while back when Ramsus said he would eventually be doing this...?

Anyways, cool I guess. No real reason to have the IRC up anymore I suppose, but I did like that it was a touch faster to load for me (i think mostly because the webchat uses smilies and avatars), but no biggie especially now that I'm not living on a crappy lappy.

I actually found out what the webchat thing was about a couple weeks ago. I even had a friendly chat with Belaith. But now it does't seem to work. I guess it's because I have IE, but can that be changed?

hm no, the alternative to the IRC that is going down isn't just the webchat(no one ever seems to be on it). It's the new channel that was made when Ramsus first announced the IRC was going down. Here is the information about that- http://www.ircdotnet.net/

I'll be in webchat more often once it cools down enough that I can go upstairs without passing out, or if I can find a good enough table downstairs for my laptop. I have seen that place get pretty busy every now and then, and it's really quite nice. I like the PM system and the avatars. Besides, no more of that name-theft confusion with the forum account integration.

It's only just been made and the transition from IRC to Webchat hasn't happened yet, give it 5 minutes to kick in.
