My friend absolutely hates everything Chrono

And it drives me insane. I hate to be really one-minded about this, but when he called Chrono Trigger's music "typical annoying RPG music," I almost exploded on him. I can completely understand someone not liking the ATB system (his main reason for hating CT), but now he abhors anything Chrono, declaring it "gay" before I can even explain to him the mastery of Chrono Cross. What should I do about this heresy?

He also hates Firefly, which makes me sad.

Yeah, my boyfriend doesn't like Chrono either and it pisses me off >_>. I guess he thought the millennial fair was really boring so he didn't continue the game. HOW CAN HE HATE THE BEST GAME EVER?! Chrono bashers suck :p.

Eh, it's not everyone's cup of tea. Even though it's my favorite game, I know there are better out there, even in the realm of JRPG. Don't let yourself be too bothered by it, it's really not a big deal.

We don't want to turn out like those crazy felony-doing Twilight fans.

Way I see it, if you're a true fan you shouldn't be bothered by any mockery you and crap you take cause you're a Chrono fan. No mocks me for it or unfortunately even knows what it is, but if they did I wouldn't have a problem, cause I like it. That's the difference between certain types of fans.
RPGs tend to have loyal fans no matter what. Whatever's the latest hype like Twilight though, no matter how greatly a fan they may claim to be, they aren't. It's just the "in" thing. one girl I know is constantly non stop made fun of for being Twilight obsessed. If she were truly a fan, she'd be able to say "I like Twilight, so what?" Instead she gets pissed off and runs off crying slowly turning rage into sorrow. An emotional wreck like the characters in her story.

I just came up with a theory that has nothing to do but I have to post it before I forget it, perhaps fans have the stability of their characters. We can deal with this stuff cause our characters are stronger. I'd have to do a study, get someone who's a fan of a series with very weak characters... Death Of A Salesman fan?

Anyways, if they bring up gay again just tell them "Alright I get it, you don't like Flea! Now what ele about the game don't like?"
"The soundtrack is horrible! It's gay!"
"Alright, how many times are you going to bring up Flea?"

Honestly, Chrono Trigger does have its share of flaws, coming from a huge fan of the entire series. I can understand why someone wouldn't like it.

I don't understand people that can't see games in context and enjoy them, but I understand where their kind is spawned and can almost forgive their seeming ignorance, but not liking FIREFLY!?!? It's one thing to say you don't like an RPG and list its flaws within the context of your perspective of RPGs.

But to say "it's gay" and leave it at that?  No rhyme or reason for their demeaning outlook on CT?

As an intellectual, it simply rubs me the wrong way for someone to degrade about something I like without backing it up.

Earlier this year, I posted a topic as to why someone hated Chrono Cross.  Yes, they hated it, but at least they had the courtesy to list the reasons why they hated it (even thought their arguments were flawed in various ways).  Even a couple of arguments made sense.

"It's gay" is but a childish, baseless opinion that's easily brushed off.  Hey, everyone's entitled to their opinion, even if it's based on faulty knowledge.  Wouldn't you agree?  Don't let it get to you.

Before I hated Twilight, I bothered to (painfully) watch the movie and (clawing my eyes out) read the book.
I loathed Yu-Gi-Oh but at least I bothered to watch the whole series.

If he hasn't even given it a chance, way I see it his views are null and void. They already sound it calling it gay and nothing more. So Flea is a little confused about his/her gender!

All in all, I don't think they even know squat about it. And if Chrono is typical music, than I don't know what that says about the music of every other ga-NAY- every other work of music in exsistence! I guess then in his eyes the world is cold and dismal, with a lacking of any music that is in any way enjoyable... A sad, cruel, and twisted life of no joy and being sensitive in an aggressive manner against gay people...

Funny you should say that, the first time I played the game it was the millennial fair that made me put the game down... and not play it again for about a year, but I powered through that part and now I appreciate and love it.

I think it was just the fact that CT's build and gameplay was something totally new to me.

Me. I didn't set it down for a year but I was thinking "Wow, this sucks. How the hell at this rate is this ever gonna compare to Trigger?" Still doesn't compare to Trigger but at least it turned out to be better than I thought.
