Scanning Chrono art
« on: December 27, 2009, 03:57:00 pm »
I just got a new flatbed scanner (my other one was...ancient), and here's what I'm looking at:

Compendium's current art scans:

My scanner's raw output with descreening/unsharp (resampling it down can make it look a bit better):

Think it's worth a re-do? Any tips for getting better images? These are from Ultimania, which has very small character art. Missing Piece has bigger versions, but unfortunately plasters Japanese text all over them, making them completely unusable for archival.

Hmm... I don't think they need a redo.

If they're pencil and marker art, then that's supposed to be the best resolution you can get via resampling.

On the other hand, if you can find a way to resample it w/o losing resolution, go for it.

Creative Uncut might have some of these already.

If you think you can get better quality than what they have, I'd say it's worth a shot; otherwise, maybe you could do some kind of...archival partnership and copy theirs?
