I went, "Oh Serge doesn't talk like Crono didn't talk, cool" and didn't ever think about it again.
Link still doesn't talk, but people don't really complain about that. Consequently, I imagine Link, Crono, and Serge all having similar sort of personalities. I also imagine a little bit of Goku thrown in there for good measure. Not so much the dopey, hoggishness, but the commitment to always doing the right thing and going against whatever ultimate evil is threatening the world no matter the odds.
