Wiz Khalifa on Chrono Trigger Beat

I used to lurk on this site a long time ago because I'm a huge fan of CT.  I don't know how many people here are fans of hip-hop but I thought some of you might find it interesting.

Wiz Khalifa, a relatively new artist on the hip-hop scene who hasn't really broken into the mainstream (yet?) but is making huge waves in the underground right now.

His new highly anticipated mixtape titled "Kush X OJ" just came out last week and the song "Never been" features a beat that samples music from somewhere in Zeal I believe. Anyways, here it is!

blake, have you learned anything about whether Wiz Khalifa had to license the melody of Schala's theme? I guess easysonglicensing.com would have sufficed though, since that's what the OneUps did.

Faust: I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think he needs to license it. I'm no expert on the subject, but I think where he is using the sample for non-profit ie. the mixtape isn't being distributed for sale, its just a free download on the internet I think he might be allowed to use it. I think you can clear samples for use as long as it's not for profit.

I didn't think people would like the song, I just wanted to point out some CT stuff to some other fans

It's okay.  You're not the first Compendiumite to create a new topic based on a pre-existing topic's premise.

On the other hand, I'm not really a big fan of hip-hop music.  That Schala's theme was rendered into this hip-hop rendition wasn't really that enterprising on the artist's behalf.
