Full details of everything I've tried are here (it's sort of my Chrono blog):

No luck yet... and I've run out of ideas!

Tail Spin works?
I think the range is not close enough.

Precisely. Poyozo Dance is the only way to go.

Tail Spin works if you put Ayla in the middle slot of your party. I tested that much out last night.

Tail Spin damages him, but it seems that it still isn't enough to win the battle before it stops automatically.

Where did you find this data for the tech damage?  Is it posted somewhere on this site?

Well, for maximum damage from Tail Spin...(Lv + Mag) × 16.5...so level Ayla out & pop a few Magic Tabs in her (maybe Prism Specs too?)...He's only got 2000 HP.

I got it from DragonKnight Zero / G*Paladin's Chrono Trigger: Mechanics Guide FAQ. Someone needs to do it for all of the Techs though...Anyone familiar enough with TF? *shrugs*

The Cyrus ghost has no rewards.
Technically, you beat him every time the battle automatically ends; you just don't get anything because of what I mentioned.
Disappointing, right?

Gotta see it for myself. Just arrived in Antiquity, and I'm just about to cross over to the main continent of Zeal.

BTW, someone remind me of the following.

How do you get the Magic Capsule on the Blackbird?

And...

How do you get that damn Nu to move in the Surviving Village shop?

I ask b/c A) I forgot how to do it originally, and B) in case the method changed between CT SNES, which gave me my CT memories, and CTDS, what I am playing now.

The capsule appears after getting everything back (Items, Money, Equipment).

For the Nu is just waiting. May take a few seconds or even minutes.

Ah, thanks. Need to keep them in mind.

Blackbird especially, since the last chest I open is the one right before the wing.

hope you don't mind me upping an ancient thread...

I was just testing this out. Tail Spin and Poyozo Dance are the only techs that do damage - but like that guy on the blog, even with everything maxed out + prism specs, I was only doing ~250 damage per attack. he has 2000 hp and the battle ends after you attack 6 times, so I don't know of any legit way to defeat him. With action replay codes that increase damage, I was able to beat him - but nothing happened any differently. the "defeated" sprite didn't appear. This might be because I used codes, but it's not likely.
