New plot tangents
« on: November 16, 2011, 03:12:52 am »
Questions and ideas I've had. Ideas are about possibilities in future plot developments, questions are just frustrations I have. Please chime in with your thoughts as well. I know my ideas may not work with the plot at all, but who cares, I love these games.

Idea 1: The three Gurus are not "good". Instead they either became, or their actions ended up as, detrimental and destructive to the planet. For example, the whole reason two separate (at least) dimensions were created was because of the guidance of the gurus to destroy Lavos, save/not save Crono, etc etc. Also, consider what the interference by Crono and co. might have done to the gurus in 12000BC. Perhaps Lavos wanted all this interference with the timelines, so that it could too travel time, and dominate all timelines for its own purpose.

Idea 2: The two timelines are supposed to be "merged" after Cross ends, what would this actually mean? What would the world look like? Would this in turn create even MORE chaos? How would you fix this? Would you need to actually "break" time? Erase things, so that time can be saved? Chrono Break?

Idea 3: The next chapter in the story explores a significantly more philosophical path. What did the initial time travel in from 1000 to 600 AD actually do? Did this "break" time? What is time travel? If time travel is possible, does time itself still truly exist? Was it all truly time travel? Or was it an illusion of time travel, and travel to another world, like another world that Lavos had previously controlled, and only appeared to be the same planet? OR, Lavos controls the destiny of any planet it plants itself in from that point on, therefore, there have been several planets that developed identical to "earth" (from 65,000,000 BC onward)?

The only true "time" travel event is one provoked by the time egg, caused by the "planet's dream" to not have its fate destined to destruction by Lavos.

Questions: Who the heck created the Time Egg? What is the planet's dream, besides a future without Lavos? What is the "planet"? What created the gates?

Answer: Give us a final Chrono game, give us at least Crono and Magus, as those two could likely be alive. The final game would at least deal with how everything has been muddled with etc. Square, you will make buko bucks if you make a final installment, and you know it.

Thanks for reading my crazy ideas. I hope, however crazy they are, that it will re-kindle your interest in the Chrono series.

Well, it would be silly if they ended up being evil, after all that they did to help Crono and friends. (Melchior's reforging of the Masamune, Gaspar's Time Egg and guidance, and Belthasar's time machine).  As far as unintentionally causing problems, this would make Belthasar look especially ridiculous after having formed a so incredibly convoluted plan to save Schala and unify the dimensions, which seemed to be successful at the end of CC.  The Time Devourer, lurking in the Darkness Beyond Time, DID already pose a threat to all timelines and was stopped in CC.

It would need to be something more than a simple "break", since, as the problem in CC was the division of the timeline, we would then just be going in circles.

That would make Chrono Trigger seem like it had been a waste of time.  Plus, it raises a lot of questions about the evident causality in relation to the javascript:void(0);party's actions in the past.

The question is, what would this change, now that Lavos/The Time Devourer have been destroyed?

We need a prequel to Cross to explain Dalton's actions, and the details on the fall of the heroes.
