Tolkien is easily my favourite author, though less so for Lord of the Rings, and more so for such things as The Lay of Leithian, The Silmarillion, and the Fall of Gondolin. I'm not quite certain what could be posted that would be a tribute to him, however. What do you mean by this? You posted some pictures of Tolkien, and a very nice painting (by whom? It appears to be either Howe or Nasmith, but I may be mistaken.) Personally, I think there are too many good paintings to even list. Most of Howe's work is incredible, especially as he captures Tolkien's realistic semi-historical feel, such as the Elves with mail and tall helms. Another good artists is the one who draws for thereandbackagain.net ; take the drawing of Feanor for example. In my opinion, it is near perfect. It would be too long to post all these, however (well, one cannot even from that site, because it is in flash format), but perhaps it will suffice to simply name them. Another good thing that itself is Tolkien tribute is the movie Ancanar - based loosely on the Silmarillion, though with different names to avoid legal matters... but plainly of the same world, nonetheless - though I wager that few even amongst Tolkien fans know of its existance.
Hmmm... there's not much more I know of to say. This is horrid; I like it so much, and could praise it to no end, but now am at a loss as to what may be put here exactly as a tribute. Tolkien certainly influenced my writing. Sigaldry would never have been my favourite word if not for the Lay of Leithian.
A small gripe about that painting, though: why in the world does it bear on its sail the emblem of Fingolfin? Because that is a Telerian ship, I am near certain, likely of Alqualonde.
Then again, maybe I'll just post some favourite quotes (just one, as there are more than may be counted):
In that vast shadow once of yore
Fingolfin stood, his shield he bore
With field of heaven's blue and star
Of crystal shining pale afar.
In overmastering wrath and hate,
Desperate he smote upon that gate
The Gnomish king there standing lone
While endless fortresses of stone
Engulfed the thin clear ringing keen
Of silver horn on baldric green.
