Guardia Castle Sealed Chest 1000 AD
« on: March 26, 2019, 07:33:24 pm »
I can find the Sealed Chest in Guardia Castle 600 AD, but I cannot for the life of me find it in 1000 AD. I'm going mad because I've searched the entire castle top to bottom and can't find it. I'm playing the DS remake.

I checked the SNES version's data, and both chests are at the same coordinates on the way to the King's quarters.

Thanks, Mauron. Looks like I am going insane. Or just can't see it.

Edit: Still can't find it. I'll go and kill Son of the Sun first and find it later, this is driving me bonkers.

Did you pick it up and forget? Check your inventory for a Red Vest/Red Mail.

Looks like that was what it was. Thanks again, Mauron; I have the memory of a senile goldfish.

Edit: 600 AD had another Red Vest, but meh. I have enough crap for Son of the Sun anyway.

Cant you get something at a point in time, and then grab it at an earlier point in time to have two? but not the other way around?

With the sealed chests, the trick is to first inspect them in 600 AD. You'll get a message saying that the contents are reacting to the pendant, then you're given the option to open the chest. Refuse, then go to 1000 AD and open it. You'll get a powered-up version of the item (since it's been percolating in Lavos energy for 400 years). You can then go back to 600 AD and open the chest to get the original version as well.

If for some reason you don't want the powered-up item, you can instead get two copies of the original item by simply not inspecting the chest in 600 AD first. Just collect the item in 1000 AD, then go back to 600 AD for another copy.

If you open a chest in 600 AD without first opening it in 1000 AD, you'll only get the one item, since the chest will disappear afterward.

There are a few sealed chests that only exist in one time period, so you can't power them up or open them multiple times. These chests are in the Heckran Cave, the Forest Ruins, and the Magic Cave, unless I'm forgetting some.

Didn't know this powered them up. Hm, learn something new everyday.

Wow, I did not know this.  And I literally JUST got double items by getting the present day ones first without powering them up.

Ah well, knowledge for next time I guess.  This certainly is not the last time I will be playing the game after all lol.
