The new Private Messages system is a bit hard to use at first if your Inbox is filled with old messages. The only way you can even see your new messages is to move the old ones out of your Inbox. Here's how you can put all of your old messages in one place.
- Look under Preferences on the left. Choose "Manage Labels."
- Add a new label named "Archive"
- Go to your Inbox
- Click the checkbox next to From on the list to select all messages.
- Go to the Drop Box with the text "Label Select" and choose "Add Label Archive"
- Repeat the selection, only remove the Label "Inbox" this time.
That removes all of your old messages from your Inbox, while keeping them around for you to reference. Now that you understand labels, you can add multiple labels to your archived messages to make them easier to manage.
