It's funny that everyone talks about her hair, but never really mention her age.  She's what, 17, 18, 19 in CT?  In CC she seemed to be about 8 or 9 in the actual game, and closer to 16ish in the movie.

Well, I mentioned a lot of things about how Schala's appearance changed after being trapped inside the Darkness Beyond Time.

She had a purple robe, but ended up with a white gown, her hair color changed, and she definitely looks younger than she did in Chrono Trigger (I surmise the same ages you do). Schala's eyes, however, have always been blue, between looking at Toriyama's art, and then seeing Schala in the ending, her eye color is still clearly blue.

Of course, if Lavos/Time Devourer drained Schala's life force or energy, you'd think she'd be older, wrinklier, and more worn out, not younger.

I never really considered Lavos/Schala's energy as, "absorbed through Schala." I always thought of it as Schala's energy acting as a catalyst to whatever remaining power Lavos may have had, which allowed him to live and mature in the DBT.

Yeah, That was my belief - Kazuki.

Schala's eye colour is yellow if you haven't looked at it closely.

And remember what happened in RD? The flame was able to turn back the clock on Schala. That may have happened to Schala maybe because she was the arbiter for a while, and then Serge may have touched it, and she would have stopped turning back. But there's some definte problem that shows that he was draining her energy. Not life force. If he drained her vast amount of magical power, he may have taken her eye and hair colour too - it may be blue because of magic.

And yeah, as a catalyst, I like that idea. Lavos himself doesn't use magic. He probably had to use Schala to channel her energies to do his omega spells.

That would make sense...considering Lavos WAS dead or extremely close to it when he reached the DBT.

And how do we know that Serge and Riddel didn't dye their hair as well? I don't know anybody who is born with blue hair.

We know Serge was born with blue hair because we actually see him being (re)born with blue hair at Fort Dragonia.

And Schala's hair in CT was green, not yellow. Well, not blue in any case.

If you look closely in CC, Schala's eye colour is yellow, and her hair is different. Now, when we see her on the beach, with that dress on, her hair is longer, braided and her eye colour is blue. Possible merge, and keeping certain characteristics from eachother?
IF Kid and Schala merged, maybe the one body adapted both characteristics? Kid's blonde hair, her blue eyes, Schala's nice face (None of those white lines), her dressing sence etc. :P

Ugh, she wasn't that old in CT. I think she was 12-13, but was naturally tall. When compared to Serge she looks small, but Serge is 17. Plus, it woulden't make sense for Kid, who's sixteen, to be more developed then Schala, who's 17, 18, 19. Therefore, it only appeared as if she was as old as Crono or so. She was in fact in only several years older then Janus. Look at the Queen's official art, she's not very old.

I always thought she was 16 in CT, especially from the Official Art, yet, her sprite made her look like a young woman - 20+.

When I think of her and Janus as a comparison, I think of her being older than him by maybe 12 years. I mean, if Janus was like 9 and she was 11, i'd seem a bit weird for her to be over protective, like look at those situations these days - The sister thinks the brother is a brat if they're that close of age. That's why I'd think he's still innocent in a way, and she'd already become a teenager or a bit older.

Janus isn't THAT young. He's atleast ten. And even so, twelve? Even if he was nine, that would make Schala like 21, and she's too underdeveloped for that. I'd give her about fifteen or sixteen.

in toriyama's cut scenes, Schala has to be older than 12, although you really only see her for a moment from behind, and Janus looks like he's like 6 or somethin'. and WTF, Schala did not have green hair.

Regarding Zealians' ages, they probably age more gracefully than normal humans, thanks to the power that they draw from Lavos.

After all, Queen Zeal certainly attained longevity by linking with Lavos; she managed to live from 12000BC to 2300AD, after Crono and company intervened in the Ocean Palace incident!

Janus, Schala, and Queen Zeal could all be much older than they actually look. However, as far as their metabolism is concerned, I surmise they have the equivalent ages of 7, 17, and 40, respectively.
