Project Zenan

One of the new goals of the Chrono Compendium is to create a sort of flowchart or listing of every Chrono series site in existence. This will be a total audit of the community. However, we need to make appropriate classifications for kinds of sites in order to list them cleanly. I suggest:

CHRONO COMPENDIUM
~
Comprehensive Sites
Game-Specific Sites
Fan Projects
Fan Pages
Shrines
Forum Only

How does that sound? Comprehensive sites are like Chronicles, us, that CT database, etc. I wish I could break the classification down further to deride the dead sites in that category (like the Chrono Continuum), but I'm not sure how I would do it. Game specific sites are pages that have a significant portion of information covering only one game in the series (such as Radical R's Radical Dreamers site). Fan Projects rank beneath that, since they serve an active function. Under those comes fan pages, like the old Geocities sites of yore that interchange relevant information about the game with fanfiction, general rambling about how great it is, etc. Shrines come next, like the Chrono Trigger Music Shrine, or the Norris Shrine. And lastly, we have Forum Only sites, like the ancient "Chrono's Forums" ezboard that's still out there.

Suggestions? Oh, and not many of you know it, but there was a "Chrono Compendium" that predates us. It was a trashy ezboard forum that I found one day after Ramsus had already established the site. Seeing that it was dead, we didn't change our name or anything. It has now disappeared beyond the void.

What a different time that was. There was no "formal" authority on matters of mystery in the Chrono series, nor an expansive encyclopedia to retrieve information from. It was every man for himself, and any discussion held was probably lost to forum pruning or link rot. Everything was transient and chaotic. We have imposed order!!

A "dead site" category or subcategory would be good. It'd be useful since there are probably a lot of them, and because, even if we list every site for the sake of it, the visitors who search something in that link page would more likely want to see active sites than dead ones.

Ramsus is talking about implementing a basic voting system for users. The dead sites would fall by the wayside. We'll see what happens before rounding everything up.

I've got the ball rolling.

That is...pretty cute. The most horrible official art .jpgs ever, an e-mail and a date tag for 1997, a couple broken links and a heart of gold. Bless Mitch, where ever he is!
