Beyond the ruin help

ok in the quest beyond the ruin i am stuck. i have defeated the robot and caught the rat and i know the password is L+R and then A but the console you type it into wont work. i cant activate it, it has the blue sparkly on it but it wont let me put in the password or interact with it in any way. PLEASE HELP LOL

This is a result of keyboards not inputting multiple keystrokes at once. Turn on these codes in your emulator, and press A at the console:

F69B3010
F69B3103

These codes modify the game content (instead of memory), so they can be left on all the time. Thanks to Geiger.
