Hadriel is right; screw gym style excercise. It is a lot better in losing weight, and there is less chance of injury, but sport can help you lose weight AND it is a HELLOTA fun.

Fixed.

Don't fall into the aerobics trap, now. For all that fancy stepping up and down, one could just plain run.

Yes, you most definitely can. Swimming outranks...probably everything in terms of how many areas of the body one activity utilizes. You work out everything when swimming.

Merely one of the reasons why I like doing it.

The way I figure it, if I have an iPod, running for 20-30 minutes 3 days a week plus 30-45 minutes of weight training three different days a week would be just about the most effective initial exercise program I could do, at least until school starts up again and I can do more stuff.

That will certainly lower your body fat ratio, but don't necciarily expect to lose weight in the most literal sense.

Swimming is great. It's aerobic and it's resistence training.
