Safe Helm or Prism Helm?

I'm playing my emulator extensively right now, and I can't decide whether to equip everyone with Safe Helms or Prism Helms.  They're both really good helmets, each with its pros and cons.  So which one is ultimately better: the Safe helm or the Prism Helm?

I went with Prism Helms...mainly because I don't see a big difference anyhow...Not like one or the other is actually going to prevent you from defeating anybody...If you're really anal about it though, maybe put Safe Helms on the guys since you can have Prism Dresses on the girls.

I hate Status effects more than I do regular damage myself...But either way really...

Right.  I don't really give a crap about physical damage, so I like the Prism Helms better.  When you put Safe Helms on, the characters glow during battles, not that that has anything to do with protection...

I prefer the prism helms just because they have a higher defense, but on first run through I always take the prism dress and give it to Ayla. Mostly because I use her in my final party, and the safe helms are almost as good as the prism helms

Uh, doesn't the Safe Helm, with it's Safe status thingy equal more defense though? Also, you can get pretty much everyone stocked with the Prism equipment. You can get 3 Dresses and 6 Helms in one game if you make Melchior make you the Helms and then just Charm Zeal's hands in 3 Black Omens...And you don't need more for Magus because he's got his own 'best' Helm.

Unless you have an alternate form of status protection, the Prism helms are a must.

Even with them, Lavos will still disable the defense status for one of the party memebers.
