Guile Question
« on: November 04, 2007, 06:50:20 pm »
So I'm playing through Chrono Cross now since I've gotten all my thirst for Chrono Trigger out of the way (played through it for 3 weeks straight, beat it more times than i can count in those weeks too :P).  So, as I'm playing I get to the point where I choose Guile as my guide up to the Viper Manor.  Here comes my question.  Guile has made a bet with the fortune teller on obtaining some sort of item in Viper Manor.  I'm having issues finding this item :/.  Was wondering if anyone remembered where to get it, cause I can't remember for the life of me.

thanks :)

I believe that the item in question for that bet, is actually the Revive element that you find in the Acacia Dragoon's bedroom, you know in the left room of where you find out what the code for the door is. So I guess, it's a can't miss.

The only thing is, that you have to get it while raiding the manor (during the night) at not at any point further, otherwise the time limit for the bet comes into the picture and Guile will loose the bet with the Fortune Teller and as a result will have to remove his mask.

I'm pretty sure it's in a treasure chest in the kitchen, actually...Though you may be right, dankun...they're both right by each other so I may be confusing it...I don't remember if it was a Revive Element though...The Copper Rod or w/e the prize that the Fortune Teller gives you isn't something you're going to regret getting though...

Yeah, the scene you get when you lose the bet is more interesting in fact... Guile takes off his mask.

Oh really...I never knew that in fact.  I may have to start over just so I can see that lol

Thanks for the help all :)

There are  only 3 revive elements in the whole game... I think that would qualify as an item worth making a bet over, wouldn't you? And for the record the Copper Rod you get when winning the bet really is worth the trouble acquiring, since when you do, it is probably like the first bronze weapon that you get. No to mention the fact that Copper Ores, for whatever reason, are the most scarce type of material (other than Rainbow Shells, of course) that you can find in the game, and winning this bet would spare you of spending another one of these to actually make the weapon.

Yeah, the scene you get when you lose the bet is more interesting in fact... Guile takes off his mask.

I wouldn't bother with it. While he does takes off his mask for the Fortune Teller to see his face (that was their agreement), you don't actually get to veiw his character portrait or even his in-game model without it. All you get is a slightly longer, somewhat different scene involving some dialogue of what his face really looks like without it. So, unless you have a save file from before you finished raiding the manor (and one in which, for some reason, you didn't get that revive element) I'd say it is a lost cause. Otherwise, knock yourself out and replay tha whole first part of the game again (it's not like is that long an amount to replay). I will say this, though, you will miss that Copper Rod you got from her (him?) before.

Counting the Revive Element in Sprigg's Dodo form there are actually more than 3...but I digress...as for the Copper weapon stuff...Yeah, cause we all know how vastly important the weapons are in the game *eye roll emoticon*
