temporal flux and crimson echoes questions
« on: November 23, 2007, 02:21:27 am »
I have a few questions related to temporal flux and crimson echoes.

1. Is temporal flux's source available anywhere? If the original author is ok with it, it would make sense to post it on source forge, or at least in the forums. For one, I'd be interested in working on it.

Putting temporal flux's source online would also be a good protection against the case where the original author loses interest, gets hit by a bus, etc, so that other community members could pick it up.

2. Is anything still happening with crimson echoes? It looks like they got pretty far, but the last demo was released last year. The chronocompendium website seems to suggest it is dead, but I've seen some hints in other forums that it was still active. What's up?

If it is dead, is there a script somewhere for the story they were planning on implementing? Are there other resources like artwork, etc? If so, be interested in setting up a wiki, svn repository, or other resources so that people can continue to contribute.

From what I've seen, crimson echoes seems like the project that came closest to succeeding to making a fan chrono sequel. It seems like the right model, using the original art and engine to avoid overhead, and existing tools like temporal flux.

1. I don't ever remember a source for TF being worked on, but you could try asking Geiger or Jlukas, they might have it.

2. It's being worked on very very very slowly, but it is not dead.

1. Don't know.

2. The project froze up at some point, but development has definitely resumed. It's slow because we're only 4 or 5, but I (the coder) am working on it everyday. The story is complete, and judging from it, I can tell you the coding of the game is 25% complete. We have a few weapon artwork but no real character artwork. Anyway, thanks for your support (by the way, if you want to contribute to anything...).

No.  I don't really do "open source".  If I do lose interest, I will make the source code available to certain individuals.  If I get hit by a bus, you guys are just out of luck.  Course, I do document all data deciphered and release that information to the public on a semi-regular basis, so its not like someone else would have to start from scratch to write another editor.
