Chrono Trigger (J)/Temporal Flux Question
« on: July 14, 2008, 05:06:23 pm »
I've gotten a little bored and decided to pull some stuff with the japanese version of CT...As I was changing the text a bit I noticed that there's an automatic line breaking system for the japanese version..

Example:

USA Version of CT
==============
MOM: Come on, sleepy head!{line break}
Get up!{null}

Japanese Version of CT
=====================
MOM: Come on, sleepy{line break}
head!  Get up!{null}

Is there anyway to either stop that or change the line break limit?

Holy shit Geiger! I haven't seen you in a while! Quick question.

I remember somewhere saying that you could copy layer 1 and paste on layer 2 and vice verse, but it never seems to work.

Sorry for highjacking your thread Justin.

I've never been able to do that either :(

You can copy properties from one location to another which I didn't know for the LONGEST time.  (incredibly useful for zplane/stairs etc).

I dont know how change characers until line break either...

Actually, no, not in the manner you're thinking.  The Japanese ROM does not have a VWF and has a hard coded character spacing of 0x0C (which is pretty big).  So "MOM: Come on, sleepy" is all it can fit in before the words would run off the side of the screen.  If you've applied some sort of VWF font, Flux does not take it into account.

I remember somewhere saying that you could copy layer 1 and paste on layer 2 and vice verse, but it never seems to work.

Look under explicit paste.

The spacing of the words isn't an issue actually.  I've changed the font to something smaller.  The whole entire line of "Come on, sleepy head!  Get up!" could fit on one line.  And I believe I changed 0C for spacing down to 09 or 08.

- Well..I think it could.  Should be able to.

But Temporal Flux doesn't know that you changed the fixed character width.

Yea I know...If I have to, I can just find the hex of the dialogue and remove the code for line break =/

Ah, thank you.
