Was the extra village in 65000000 B.C. ever named? (CTP)
« on: December 29, 2004, 11:13:01 am »
Curiosity has gotten the better of me after rereading the CTP information in the Compendium's pre-release information.

To anyone's knowledge, was the extra, non-functioning village in 65000000 B.C. near the foot of the Singing Mountain ever named?

Both the village and the Singing Mountain have intrigued me since I learned about them from the Corridors of Time website.  I wish they'd left some of these in, even as optional side-quest material.  It would have been really great to explore them as fully operational areas. =)

That dream may be realized with Temporal Flux. But a name might be floating around somewhere in the Location data in the Prerelease; Singing Mountain's name is actually left over and translated in the final, coming out as http://www.chronocompendium.com/Term/Chanting_Mt , but none of the other nullified location names in the final seem to correspond with a prehistoric area aside from 'Ayla's tent.' I am going to make an entry for it. Many people have simply called it the lost village.

I'm going to have to try Temporal Flux with the pre-release some time.  The curiousity is killing me.

Thanks ZeaLitY =)

Currently, there is no support for the Prerelease ROM, it won't even load. As soon as everything is far enough along with the Final release of Chrono Trigger, I'm sure Evil Peer will think about adding rudimentary support for some of Prerelease, but it may be awhile, if at all. It would take some recoding to do as of right now, everything is in different locations in the ROM. Well, not EVERYTHING, but most of it, including Location Map data. The overworlds are where they are supposed to be, I beleive though.

Err... now I feel like a complete newb.

I thought it worked with the pre-release.  Thanks for clearing that up, Chickenlump.

Yeah; specifically, to activate those areas, I believe right now that unless we have Chickenlump or Evil Peer-grade expert knowledge on the subject, we'd have to recreate those places tile by tile on new maps in the final version. It wouldn't be that hard though, as simple things like waterfalls and cliffs can be pasted usually with Area Select.

In fact, I've been rolling around the idea of a quaint little mod just to get something out, as CTCE is a gargantuan undertaking. Maybe we can incorporate those places. I'll post my ideas soon.

Keep in mind you can still visit those places in their current form. http://www.chronocompendium.com/Term/Explore_the_Prerelease

No problem, TF just does a quick North American ROM check on file load, so ONLY the North American release will work (so as not to corrupt any other rom from data location inconsistancies). If I knew where it checked, I'd hack it and see what loads up anyway though...heh....once I attempted to copy and paste data fromt he prerelease and put it in the correct spots and try it...it sort of worked....kind of... >_>

Oops, that link should be Explore_(CTP).

Hey CL - http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=49649

I'm making an effort to finish the Music aspect of TF.

Overworld names

I just went through the overworld location names (see the post in the Modification forum here) and unfortunately there doesn't appear to be any unused names unique to the prerelease.

The huts were probably never named, but it's also possible that they were just more Ioka huts.

quick question: when you access singing mountain in the beta version with the various codes, does the song actually play?  Or is it just naturally assumed that that's where the song would have played?
