Proximity Bomb
« on: January 03, 2009, 07:02:52 pm »
Proximity Bomb is a tech used by Robo, but I never seem to find the need nor the opportunity to ever use it. Does anyone on this forum use this tech on a regular basis? For me Robo always seems to be out of reach of monsters and therefore I always forget that the tech even exists. Does it even do any significant damage? Even though nothing can beat Robo's Apocalypse Arm/Dragon's Tear.

Crisis Arm/Uzzi Punch (Rapid-fire Fist) tends to be Robo's most consistent method of scoring high damage. To answer the question, though, I personally do not. It can rack up some impressive scores against foes with a weakness to fire, but I typically use other means to dispatch them (Lucca). I've never found a situation that would make Proximity Bomb more favorable than his other techs.

Uzzi Punch  = 3× attack damage
Area Bomb = (Lv + Mag) × 12.25
Shock = (Lv + Mag) × 16.5

Depending on the situation, yeah...I for some reason always found Area Bomb (and/or Double Bomb) to be more powerful against Lavos' Core (even if I combined the attacks of Shock & Flare, Double Bomb did more damage...)...But idk...It doesn't have a weakness to Fire, right? That'd be weird...:lol:

Robo being on the 3rd party slot in the Lavos' Core fight is close enough for a proximity bomb? It always seemed to be that monsters would have to be directly beside Robo. :(

Yeah, the core is close enough when he's in that position...It's just a circular radius like they show you in the Mayor's Manor...

Damn straight. I pwned the Alabaster Shade in a few hits and Apocalypse Arm/Dragon's Tear was how I got it. (Other characters attacking plus non-critical hits from Robo drew it out.)

[/offtopic]

I personally never use Proximity (Area) Bomb unless I just wanna see it done. Especially with the Apocalypse Arm/Dragon's Tear. One hit kill if the enemy HP is low enough. Otherwise, it's the perfect finisher.

Critical Hit with Apocalypse Arm = Falcon Punch.

With the last digit of Robo's HP as a 9, he can deal over 6000 damage with Rapid-fire Fist.

Even with the Dragon Earring/Tear, the Apocalypse Arm has a mere 30% critical hit rate... That's about one-third.

So, (approximately) you could have Robo dealing ~10000 damage every three turns. (on average) With the Crisis Arm/Rapid-fire Fist combo, however, Robo can deal 18000+ damage every three turns.

Crisis Arm/Rapid-fire Fist > Apocalypse Arm/Dragon Earring.

OK, using Rapid-Fire Fist with the Crisis Arm was not as efficient. It did nothing, and Robo's HP is 999, which I try to preserve.
