Is Masato Kato related to this Oscar nominated winner?

Kunio Kato won for the Animated Short Film: "La Maison en Petits Cubes" during the Oscars of 2009.

He spoke in fluently in English and he was very much thankful in his speeches. The poor guy must have been nervous.

Anyways, could this guy be related to the Masato Kato of Chrono Trigger?

Yeah.  Wikipedia alone has 22 articles for people named Kato (Masato included).

So there's every bit the possibility he's related to any of them, including the author of Lupin III (Kazuhiko Kato), but it's very unlikely.
