THE RETURN: SORTA A NEW HOPE KINDA
So, I'm sorta back now...Just using my friend's comp right now...My mom went back in the hospital and then they did a brain biopsy and they think they know wtf is going on now...but she's currently in a nursing home, but she should be back home in a week or so...
I watched a bit of anime and played a few games (PS2 & PSP) during this time...I tried reading some books, but the anime & games distracted me...So let me say a few things...
Comic Book Series Worth Checking Out -
Scott Pilgrim, published under Oni Press (those guys that did those Kevin Smith comics and some other stuff, I guess) it's a story about this guy, Scott Pilgrim, trying to date this girl, Ramona Flowers, but in order to do so he has to defeat her seven (or eight) evil ex-boyfriends. It's kind of relationship heavy and there are quite a few characters to keep track of, but so far, in each volume, you get updated as to who everyone is. The humor is quasi-RPG dork, especially when Scott actually defeats the ex-boyfriends (they poof away and normally leave change behind). It's good stuff.
Anime You Already Know Kicks Ass -
Cowboy Bebop is undoubtably one of the best and most beloved of all the anime series out there. It's weird because I actually saw the last half of the series first...But I still absolutely fell in love w/it...Mostly, I think it's because of Ed...She's just such a great character and a welcome change in the anime bounty hunter genre (which Cowboy Bebop more or less made popular). I think it's great how there's no pretentious three page paragraph before the show starts explaining that it's the future and that things are different...It's a nice change to just know that kind of thing by watching the show and seeing things for yourself. Great characters and it actually manages to be hilarious frequently! Good stuff.
The Comic to Movie That Worked Pretty Good -
V for Vendetta was actually not a bad movie...I had just read the comic previously (another comic you should pick up btw) and thought it was really great and, dare I say it, thought prevoking...The movie focuses more on V's similarities and obvious homage to Guy Fawkes and less on Anarchy than the comic, but I think the biggest and best change had to be the change of it being a disease instead of nuclear winter...Man, those crazy '80s ideas...This is just solid proof that comics to films can almost never be a duplicate to the comics (Sin City the only exception?).
VIDEO GAMES I PLAYED BUT WON'T TALK ABOUT HERE!!!X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocolypse (PSP)
