Viper is NOT Zorander?

Well, I think it is not that surprising, since someone metioned that before.

I saw a post in another place today, and it just said what I thought when I first came across RD. (For some reason, I'd just omit his name for now).

Anyway I just wanted to note that Zorander is the RD equivalent of Dario, NOT General Viper. Here are some quotes about Zorander:

Suddenly, Magil comes forward to speak. "Do you know of the old man who currently is locked away in the catacombs?"
"That traitor! Because of him, my father... my dear Zorander...!!"

^You don't call your father "my dear [first name]," do you?

"It is a holy white sword, created long ago by ancient sages along with its demonic brother, the Masamune.
It was the Acacia Dragoons' most prized weapon. It once glided through the air in Zorander's hand, shimmering like a star...

^Magil usually refers to General Viper as just "General Viper." Why would he call him by his first name here? It's more likely that Zorander is just someone else.

"Ohhhh... Gorba... Merkid... Zorander... forgive me..."
A quiet, sobbing voice seems to be coming from the third cell on the right.

^Elsewhere the "Radius prototype" old man refers to General Viper as "the General." While it's possible he was close to him and could call him by his first name, I think it's more likely that Zorander is just a different character, considering Riddel's and Magil's quotes, and also Chrono Cross. Besides nothing implies that "Viper" is not a first name in the first place.

At least before I saw the compendium articles, I used to think like that.

It is hard to tell, but when i saw Riddel's line, I thought she metioned 2 different persons.
It is just my sense of language: since it is quite unusual to call one's father by name here.

And she actually said "in the swordman of the Acacia Dragoons, Zorander's hand", which sounds quite unlikely Zorander=Viper.

And then I tried to google it, to see how do others think about that. I provided the keyword ゾランダ (Zorander) and ラジカル ドリーマーズ (Radical Dreamers).

Hmm, and not surprising again, there are few results(actually only 3).

1st one is from nicovideo, the comment of a RD playthrough video. I checked the cache, and almost everyone metioned Zorander thought he's Cross's Dario. http://www.nicozon.net/watch/sm681168

The idea that Zorander is General Viper never sat well with me, but, as far as the English translation goes, the evidence either way is inconclusive. I personally have leaned toward Zorander being one of the Divas along with Merkid and Gorba, as that would jive better with Riddel's remark, and also because there is no explicit statement anywhere in the text that Zorander is Viper...a statement whose absence is keenly felt in this game filled with passing references.

However, if Zorander is Viper, then I really appreciate the character development which comes from the affectionate use of his first name by the various characters.

That is the Einlanzer, if I'm not mistaken. Viper never used the Einlanzer, but then again, this is not Cross, so this detail may have been different for RD.

I haven't liked the idea that "Zorander" refers to General Viper much either.

Anyway, if it helps, the Japanese text from her first mention of "Zorander"

　あれのせいで、私の父は……！
　愛しい、ゾランダは……！！

Her father and Zorander are mentioned in separate sentences.

But first time I saw the English script, it gave me the same feeling.

Hmm, so I even don't think Demiforce tended to link Viper to Zorander.
